View Full Version : Word on the street

The word on the street is "Alpha Flights".
Literally.

Seriously, I don't know why 'Alpha Flights' was written on a piece of paper on the street this morning, but it was.

:)
(What? It's a slow news week for Alpha.)

Well, clearly that is all the proof we need.
The advertising and marketing wheels are in motion.
Alpha Flight will be getting it's own regular series.
It's written in stone... on paper... with ink. :)

Obviously! With multiple teams!

Well there are 9 more Secret Wars titles to be revealed (http://www.newsarama.com/23723-marvel-releases-secret-wars-battleboard-map.html) so I still have some hope...

Le Messor

That alternate Liveworld reality from #75 could be one of them... :D

I think that's a bit too vague unfortunately.

Looking at the teasers 8 of the remaining 9 are looking like being:
Renew Your Vows (http://www.ew.com/article/2015/03/16/amazing-spider-man-renew-your-vows-will-be-last-spider-man-story)
Years Of Future Past (http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/exclusive-secret-wars-resurrects-a-mutant-nightmare-in-years-of-future-past)
Civil War (http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/20/entertainment/feat-marvel-captain-america-civil-war-secret-wars/)
Armor Wars (http://www.newsarama.com/23784-iron-thor-spider-man-kingpin-debut-in-secret-wars-s-armor-wars.html)
House Of M
A-Babies Vs. X-Babies (http://www.mtv.com/news/2099791/marvel-secret-wars-skottie-young-little-marvels-exclusive/)
X-Men 92 (http://www.polygon.com/2015/3/13/8205009/marvel-x-men-92-cartoon-comic-secret-wars)
Age Of Apocalypse (http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/03/18/age-of-apocalypse-returns-for-marvels-secret-wars)

Hoping for at least Wild Child in AoA, which speculation is Niciezia will be writing...

Phil

And the 9th looks to be Groot: http://marvel.com/news/comics/24212/groot_sprouts_a_solo_series_this_june

EDIT: This appears to be a non-Secret Wars title.

Phil

Okay, this just confuses me with the 9...

And the 9th looks to be Groot

Hope they get a really good artist to work on this one... I have a feeling the dialogue will be below par.
Two dozen pages of "I am... GROOT". Not something I'm very interested in at the moment. :)

Done right it could be good; akin to a Chaplin-esque silent movie.
Probably not my cup of tea, but if it gets younger readers laughing and liking comics I'm all for it.

So far some pretty random titles. Hmmmm.....

Le Messor

Nicieza can be pretty good sometimes.

Hail Hydra (http://comicbook.com/2015/03/23/exclusive-marvel-announces-hail-hydra-series-during-secret-wars/)!

+ Links updated in Post #6 (http://alphaflight.net/showthread.php?10149-Word-on-the-street&p=98637&viewfull=1#post98637)

(And not entirely sure why I mutated this thread into Secret Wars)

Le Messor
03-24-2015, 03:51 PM
I started off reading that with my usual 'oh, another series about heroes as villains' and finished with 'Alternate realities? Slightly skewed views of 'my' characters? Yeah, I love this sort of thing!' - especially since it will be about a hero. Even one who I never knew existed until now. (He has a son? Is he originally from 616?)

(Because the original topic was little more than a one-off anecdote and Secret Wars is news to everybody here, and something we can all talk about?)

Captain Britain & The Mighty Defenders (http://comicbook.com/2015/03/24/marvel-announces-captain-britain-and-the-mighty-defenders/) (Alan Davis art)

Now that we've seen a lot more than 9 additional books the chance/hope of an AF book has been reignited...

Really some random books, and is the bottom character Prowler? (to lazy to read article)

Anything that gives hope is good. For now.

I didn't link this one when it was announced 10 days ago, for some reason:

1602: Witch Hunter Angela (http://www.buzzfeed.com/kmallikarjuna/1602-witch-hunter-angela#.brm29WJML)

Phil

Red Skull (http://www.newsarama.com/23918-the-hunt-for-red-skull-inside-secret-wars.html)

Honestly I don't think anyone could have predicted these titles. So random

Phil
03-26-2015, 12:49 PM
And yet still no Alphans :(

-K-M-
03-26-2015, 02:17 PM
I doubt we will. Especially if 3 members have apparently joined "A-Force"

we shall see, but not optimistic haha

Phil
03-27-2015, 09:22 AM
I don't think they've joined it per se; they'll just be in the female-agent pool to choose from ala the Mission: Impossible TV Series.

I'd also settle for an alternate reality 'Flight like all these other titles.

Bleeding Cool points out (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/03/26/red-skull-and-mary-jane-together-for-secret-wars/) that Red Skull was one of a number of recently trademarked titles that included Northstar (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/02/17/northstar-kingpin-beast-red-skull-omega-and-werewolf-by-night-get-trademarked-by-marvel-more-to-come/) as we reported here (http://alphaflight.net/content.php?854-Marvel-To-Release-Northstar-Series)

Does this mean we will actually get a Northstar series?

-K-M-
03-27-2015, 12:39 PM
I really could see them giving him a mini, but I doubt alpha flight would appear only through flashbacks I imagine.

I did like his alpha flight reference in the last amazing x-men, but it seems writer are trying to distance him from that era and have him solely an x-man

Phil
03-27-2015, 01:33 PM
Quite probably, but even solely as an X-Man I'd buy a Northstar series.

-K-M-
03-27-2015, 04:13 PM
Same here. Guess now it's the waiting game

Le Messor
03-27-2015, 04:35 PM
Ah, the waiting game's boring.
Let's play Hungry, Hungry Hippos!

-K-M-

Deal. Shotgun yellow hippo

Siege (http://marvel.com/news/comics/24352/secret_wars_correspondence_siege)

There wasn't a teaser for this one, so maybe, maybe there's a chance for a Chaos War one?

Le Messor
03-31-2015, 03:58 PM
There's a chance, I guess.

Phil
03-31-2015, 06:16 PM
As we're on a new page: House Of M (http://herocomplex.latimes.com/comics/dennis-hopeless-introduces-house-of-m-to-secret-wars-battleworld/) - there's a big mention of Namor so there's a tiny possibility we could see Marrina?

Le Messor
04-01-2015, 04:35 PM
Could happen; but then, maybe they never married in M?

Phil
04-01-2015, 05:15 PM
Yeah, he was married to Dorma in the original series so this is less likely...

Phil
05-29-2015, 10:29 AM
Doubtful that Witchfire will be in Inferno :(
