Just wanted to say hello and see what is happening with Alpha flight.
I started collecting when AF first came out and I have all the issues in Volume 1 #1 - #130, I kind of lost track after that with work getting very crazy and life kicking in.
My wife just brought out all of my AF collection this morning and I was going through them and it really is a great series, I am sorry I stopped collecting them.
I have many doubles and I think I have all the specials from back then.
I am just wondering if I should hang onto them or give them to one of my grandchildren ?
They are all in plastic bags and in mint condition after being put away for so long, do they have any value I should be aware of or is it OK to give to one of my grandkids ?

Hey Cyan, welcome to AF.net! You should definitely share the collection. Unfortunately not many issues are valuable. They were printed in very high volume and rarely fetch a premium, with a few exceptions, notably the 1st printing of #106. There's a lot more Alpha Flight after issue #130 so actually you may want to consider expanding your collection, not giving it away!

Greetings, Cyanide.
I think that's a question only you can really answer, but things to consider: How old are your grandkids, and do you trust them not to damage your comics? Do you care? Their value, ultimately, is how much they mean to you (given their lack of monetary value).
Personally, I've never found them as good as they were in volume 1 (and a lot of volume 1 wasn't as good as a lot of the rest of volume 1...), but in case you're considering collecting, since then there have been three more volumes:
The 90s Steven Seagal-penned one - generally well-regarded, but not as beloved as v1.
A Scott Lobdell one - generally loathed and ridiculed (the latter including by itself)
and a fairly recent volume five - the first reappearance of the original team. Generally well-regarded. It began with a 'Fear, Itself' special.
The reason my maths looks off up there is either because I've got the numbers wrong and/or have forgotten an entire series, or because there was also an:
Omega Flight. This came out shortly after New Avengers #16, which... is... important to AF lore.
All but v2 have been collected in trade.
Welcome to the infodump!!!

Hi Everyone,
just wanted to say thank you for answering my question and graciously welcoming me to the site.
I have as of yet no decided what to do with the books as my wife found another box of them in the same mint condition as the first box, but these books are the guest appearances in other books as well as guest appearances by other characters in AF.
I guess for now I will just read them again for only the second time and decide from there, I have so many all together (probably not by the standards on this site) that it will take a bit of time to get through them.
I know to be very careful when removing them from the bags and cardboard backing, I am just so amazed that they are in absolute pristine mint condition, I guess leaving them in a box, in plastic bags with cardboard backing for about 30 years will do that.
Just to mention, Sasquatch is and always has been my favorite character of AF.

Don't worry... we each have different sizes of collections. :)
Some have smaller than you've described, others probably bigger.
