Hey Jim - pumped to see that you’re taking over Champions! Would I be correct in assuming that this is where we’ll be seeing Canada’s Mightiest Heroes pop up? Also, if so - and *SPOILER ALERT* for anyone who hasn’t read Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente’s 2011 Alpha Flight maxiseries - will you be addressing Heather’s retirement and separation from Mac at the end of that story? I thought that was a beautiful, heartbreaking ending, and would love to see it explored more.

I do have plans for Alpha Flight to make an appearance, but if/when they do we won’t have the page count to delve into plot-heavy stuff from the previous run of AF. The series I’m writing is Champions, after all, so that’s where our focus needs to be.

I'm thinking a new teen Canadian character, with ties to AF or the Master, is joining The Champions.

When/if someone gets it - can they say if it's worth getting?

I can only answer for myself. :)
I remembered to check on a recent visit to my LCS, but Champions was only up to #17. I'm going to have to keep track.

Anonymous asked:I wasn’t aware Snowbird & Talisman were with Captain Marvels Alpha Flight. Is there a story explanation?

I extensively dug around for issues specifically showing how Alpha Flight the team became Alpha Flight the space station crew and there weren’t any, so I decided the team still stays in touch with each other and that Snowbird and Talisman have been doing their own thing on Earth while Sasquatch, Puck, and Aurora were doing their space thing.
No one’s stopped me yet, so I guess it’s now canon. ;P

The fact that it's Snowbird... (and I guess Talisman)... is what's making me itch to pick it up when it comes out.

She looks kind of like Talisman if she were part of the Water Tribe.

Love the idea of more Canadian heroes anywhere in Marvel.
Sounds like her power base will be very similar to Snowbird though.

Anonymous asked:
If Alpha Flight is in Space, who are protecting Canada from Super Villains?

It hasn’t been formalized in the pages of the comics yet but, until someone decides otherwise I figure there’s a “home” and “away” team.

Puck, Sasquatch (and Aurora before she quit the team) are usually up at the Alpha Flight space station protecting Earth. Snowbird, Talisman and the others are on the ground dealing with domestic threats.

Aurora quit?
I thought she just sort of faded away.

I think that's just an assumption or shorthand on Jim's part.
Stohl mentioned that she was on loan to NASA.
