Bio that's my brother's fault if I'm a comic fan now. He was the one buying comics. We started with the Québec translation of Fantastic Four when I was living in Port-Cartier, we moved to Matane, The translation stopped and it was very hard to get the original versions (I learned english by reading comics). We moved again to Québec (the city) and hourray! We could get easily our comic fix. I worked for 2 years in Europe and Africa and when I was in Russia, I quit the compagnie to move back home, Now I'm in Longueuil but I hope to go back in Québec some day. I hope one day do my own interactive comic on the net. [/b]

BIRTH DATE: 1/2/77
LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA USA
OCCUPATION: Investigator, nursing student
INTERESTS: Hockey, Lacrosse, Football, Fishing, Brewing (Walker Brewing Studio), BMX Dirt, and gaming (XBox Live).

BIO: Born and bred in the ghetto of Philadelphia the LCS (Local Comic Shop) was an oasis from the madness of drugs and violence that engulfed the neighborhood. My family escaped eventually and I went on to Temple University where I started as a Pre-Med major. After finding out how insurance companies make all the decisions and not the doc's I switched to Communications, Film/ Graphic Design. After finding nary a job in those fields I went to work FT for the University as an Investigator while studying to be a Nurse.
Dating the same girl for 6 years who wondered why I was dragging her into a comic shop last week for Volume 3 #1. After reading it she still doesn't have a clue. Although she does win in Atlantic City quite frequently allowing us to "get away" on weekend excursions all comped by the casino's :)

NAME: M
BIRTH DATE: 20th March 1973
LOCATION: Burton-on-Trent (Midlands), United Kingdom
OCCUPATION: Retail (which I HATE!)
INTERESTS: Writing (when I have the time - short stories, work on novels that will probably never be finished and ideas for TV/movie scripts which will probably never get written), reading (Tanith Lee, Anne Rice, Philip Pullman, Storm Constantine), internet, anime (Sailor Moon, Evangelion), manga (Sailor Moon mainly), cult TV (Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Space: 1999, The Tribe, My So-Called Life), cult horror movies, comic books (after many years away I've been tempted back by Alpha Flight!), music (Tori Amos, Jane Siberry, Suzanne Vega, Dar Williams).

BIO: Once upon a time there was a little boy who had no intention of doing anything but being a writer - so he ended up going to University where he studied English Literature and Creative writing. With such wonderful qualifications under his belt he ended up being a part-time slacker and part-time sales assistant in ill-paid jobs to support his DVD/book/CD habits, all the time dreaming that he would one day be a writer and be swept off his feet by a charming prince. After many adventures (within his own head) the boy bought a computer with internet access and started to explore the worth therein. Presently he met a guy on there - who, although not a prince, was charming - and they got together and moved in with each other and have been living together (and incidentally working in the same shop together - with hilarious results) for about three years now and may or may not live happily ever after...

Hey Mighty Alpha Fans:

Weapon Omega here, well, actually Seth residing in the "Steel City" of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Coffee Shop employee, and aspiring Filmmaker and Comic Book writer. Been into comics since I was 14, that was twelve years ago and haven't missed a Wednesday yet!!

Been into Alpha Flight since I got into comics, I think it was a guest appearance in an old Wolverine comic that made me a fan of Canada's premiere super-team. It wasn't so much the powers as it was the characters themselves. The new series is great and I can honestly say, this is the best Alpha site on the Web, in my opinion. So here's me saying hello....."Hello!"

Hi all I'm me Richard Vasseur from London, Ontario, Canada. I've been getting Alpha Flight since issue # 1 of the first series. I've been into collecting comics as long as I can remember. In the past year I've gotten into doing interviews of comic writers and artists and posting them on web sites. I also post reviews of comics as well.
Of course being from Canada I have a certain passion for great Canadian heroes. I wish there were more. We need a Canadian comic book company to compete with Marvel or DC.

Trout? If they're as big in Canada as they are in NZ I'd believe it. The bite I got was a nick more or less...it could have been a lot worse, the shark in question was bigger then me and I'm no midget.

Well... and this is SOOOO off topic, but John Inman (actor who played Mr Humphries) INSISTS that Mr Humphries was NOT gay in any way shape or form, he was just a mother's boy... do you think he watched the show at all????? From what I remember he was constantly alluding to... well let's just say getting physical with sailors down the docks etc - how many mother's boys do that and AREN'T gay???????

Btw, rather tragically Mollie Sugden's 80s ITV sitcom That's My Boy is available on video in AMERICA of all places!!!!! Talk about weapons of mass destruction... *shudder*

Accents ya I know one that I found out through reading Alpha Flight is associated with Canadians I had not heard of it before except in American movies. So I had assumed it was an American thing. And that is putting "Eh" on the end of a sentence. I have now actually heard two Canadian's use it in person. Maybe I just live in the part of Canada where it is not used. :P

Welcome Cet (Carol), good to have you onboard. I know that Lobdell wrote Generation X and I recognise his name from here and there (but I've been out of the comic-book scene for quite a few years also), not really sure of what else he's done comic-book wise, I know that he's a stand up comic also. Maybe you could write a resume of his written work for us?

Welcome again :)

Thanks for the welcome guys. :)

Beetleblack,

Aiya, Lobdell's comic resume....that's quite a lot. Well, you know about Generation X. He also wrote Uncanny X-Men and X-Men for quite a few years (and was one of the masterminds behind the Age of Apocalypse, greatest X-Men story ever :) ). He's written Wildcats as well I believe, along with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There have been many minis and such over the years as well, but those are the first big things that come to mind. He really is something. Lobdell's the only comic writer who's ever been able to make me feel amusement, joy, excitement, sadness, despair, hope....any feeling you can think of, whenever he wants. One guy on X-Fan said one time that "Lobdell's characters bleed emotion." (And that was meant in a good way, in case you were wondering). More than anything characters are always the main thing that draw me into a story, and Lobdell's writing has always felt character-centered to me. It's amazing. :)

Happy to meet you guys. :)

Welcome to our little asylum, Carol. Hope yer not scared of cupboards...

Hey everyone! My name is ....well my sig saids it all. :P But I'm a Northie lover from way back and I really can't get enough of the sexy Canadian. I'm 38, or will be this Friday. I'm really getting old because I can remember the New X-Men from the mid to late 70's. I now read the new Alpha Flight in hopes to renew my interest in the book. I read all the X titles, including Mystique and Emma Frost. I'm also an owner of an X-Men message board known as The X-Dream that just opened last Tuesday.

Ok, enough about me. Whose serving the drinks? :D

No, not french Canadian, it's too vague, Québécois or Quebecer, that's the way he likes it (he told me). Aurora don't care how you call her, she is that's all that matters and Jeanne-Marie would like to be called french canadian.

Hello Everybody.

I am new to this board. Not sure what I can say about myself except that I am here because of my love for Alpha Flight, which I have been fond of since the days of John Byrne. (Wow, that long huh?)

I live and grew up in the Great White North, in a little place called "Montreal".

My favourite alphas are: Heather, Puck, Box (Roger Bochs, may he rest in peace), Guardian and of course Walt who I have named myself after.

My favorite issues of Alpha Flight are : # 1-32 and 102-106. I enjoyed the second series (1997) also but found the stories to be highly out of place. I have high hopes for the new series.

Looking forward to having some great literary discussions with you all over the future of Alpha Flight.

Well, I am new around here. Named after....myself!

Lets see, I started reading Alpha Flight when the second volume came out. I enjoyed that book so much that I went back and bought tons of issues of the first volume to learn the history of the characters and the team as a whole. I quit after a while, but when I saw a third volume coming out, I decided I would finish off the old collection and read the new title.

My favorite flight member is probably Squatch, but I like Shaman and Talisman as well. I must say though, I think I like the Exiles version of Squatch more than I like the 616 version.

I live in Florida, about as far away from Canada as you can be in the states, but I have visited there before. The countryside up there is beautiful.

My favorite issue of Alpha Flight is #66 from Vol. 1. I think that is the number. Its the issue where Manikin becomes aware of the writer and tries to fight off his plan to kill him off. I always thought that was cool, and I had never seen it done in a book before.

That about does it for me.

INTERESTS: Well, I'm first and foremost a Transformers fan. I love the things. They led me to comics, which eventually led me to Alpha Flight! I also enjoy politics, Transformers, Sci fi, Art, Transformers . . . Did I mention Transformers?

Bio: Born and raised in the nation's capital! In fact, I can see "Department H headquarters" from my window. Heh.

Now I must admit, I hadn't actually *bought* any Alpha Flight comics before the new series came out, all I knew was that there was this awesome team of all Canadian superheros. I did some researching online (this was years ago, mind you) and learned a lot about them. I didn't know much about comics or what was out or not back then though, so I went without Alphan goodness for a long time.

I'm a little more well versed in the ways of the comic nowadays, and I was really excited when I heard there was a new series. My favourite characters are probably Sasquatch and Guardian (I bet that's a shocker), but I really like everyone on the all new team.

According to more reliable sources, his childhood was spent between Newfoundland and southern Ontario. Extremely patriotic, he has travelled through many provinces, but deeply regrets not yet having travelled beyond Calgary in his western journeys. He hopes to someday remedy this.

When not chained to his drawing desk and computer station, Ed can be found clanging iron in the basement, or outside howling at wolves and stuffing moose into igloos.

"Set in the time around Alpha Flight #1 (VOL. 1).
story so far

What started as a barfight between the hot headed Beta Flight member
Flashback and notorious supervillain Cain "Juggernaut" Marko escalated
to a battle that left a small town devastated, with minimal civilian
casualty. The battle was televised by a local news crew and a media
frenzy is the result. The Canadian Government has denied any
involvement with the super team and funding was immediately cut for
Dept. H.

Team leader James MacDonald Hudson is missing and presumed dead. His
wife, Heather Hudson, is searching Canadian forests for her husband.
She hopes his disapearance was due to attempting a time sync jump. She
will not rest until she has proof of his death or brings him back alive.

Rox/xon Oil, under the direction of Jerome "Jerry" Jax/xon, has made a
bold attempt to contact and hire members of Beta and Gamma through
Delphine Courtney. The company offered large sums of money to Alec
Thorne and Marrina. It is suspected now with the disbanding of Dept. H
program that Rox/xon with make more attempts to contract Alpha members
under their employ.

The various team members are now scattered across Canada, securing
their private lives from ties with Dept. H. What's next for Alpha
Flight?"

the group has been going since Jun of 2002. pretty much all characters are available as the group went through a slow period but i just refuse to let it die!
Thanks for your help and i'll be sure to link this site as well!

Welcome to our friendly asylum. Please check your sanity at at the gate. The critters in the cupboards tend to enjoy fresh sanity, and you will notice the 'don't feed the inmates' sign in the doors. Also, watch your step. Someone (we're not sure who - although we have our suspicions) has been leaving Ikea catalogues (http://www.furnitureporn.com/) laying around for the inmates to find... *sigh* It's messy, but it keeps them out of more serious trouble...

Now, if you'll follow me, we'll start our tour....

Thanks for the welcome!

The article was written in '86 (published in '87) and would entail rewriting the whole thing, more work and time than I have to spare (especially since I'm trying to get my ALPHA FLIGHT story together).

I'm glad someone has an interest in what I've written, though.

Welcome Laurent! Don't worry about your english, I can read your french just fine, I just can't write in french any more, those skills have been lost with the pointless destruction of brain cells. We have a number of francophones here, most are from Quebec. Sylvie actually basically leaned to speak and write english through the Alpha Waves mailing list (now basically merged into the forum) and by reading comics in english. Her boyfriend Bruno is learning fast :)

Enjoy your time here, and we have some lovely french pastries cooling in the cupboard.

Bonjour Harfang,

Northstar name is translated in Vega in France, I always find this funny and think there is a story to made out of this. Since in french Northstar is very hard to say and JP been nationalist, I always thought he did that to pissed off Québécois.

Don't let the slime creatures in the cupboard bother you, we still intend on making them pets.

They're also handy in taking care of the random door to door salesman.

Tom: Go Stillers! (Steelers in Pittsburghese for those going 'huh?'. My dad's from Pitt.)

Fritz: I shall be darkening the streets of your hometown in August on me week off...Unnnnnnn Vegas =)~~~

Brandon: I like MI, my sis lives in Lansing and I adored it there on me trip a few years back...still do because it means my nephews, as cute as they pretend to be, live over 2000 miles AWAY from me and are only seen occasionally.

Madison: Wine hmm? I'm just down the road from Napa and I can tell you that the 'train through the vineyards' is a trip worth taking for the true diehard! Just plan on camping out at the last stop for the night, because they are quite generous with the tastings.

Garry: One of these I am going to visit a little museum in your hometown and never be seen again! lol (I reckon I'll have to be taken out of the Smithsonian feet first)

i've been in N.Y city once and i found it very very beautyful !!

++ god bless you !!

) bye all

i would like to thank all American and Canadian (inclued Quebecers) peoples who are dead to free my country :D (i hope you understand what i'm saying)

G'day Leshia,

lol no worries about gawking at the big city...I lived mostly in remote locals around the Pacific and Indian oceans when I was a kid and I still tend to gawk at the big cities...including the one I now live just down the road from. San Francisco if you ever get the chance, is rather impressive to see...and nowhere near as massive and insane as Los Angeles...which I've also lived in and seen and can pass on thank you very much. =p

I agree with Ben though, if you ever get the chance, you should really get out there and see the world. I had the fortune of being the daughter of a military career bloke and I can honestly say I wouldn't change my childhood for control of the Universe.

As for this lot, they're a good bunch. The boys are in training and I will soon be shipping them off to their new lives... for a price so I can buy Tahiti and retire at the ripe old age of 35... They will still have access though to the net as per my arrangements with their new 'employers'.

Welcome Spy! I can see you not liking Florida much these days, I here it's been pretty windy! But the beach on the other hand...I love the beach, and was so sad to have been too busy this summer to go myself.
Glad to have you here, pull up a corner in the cupboard, don't worry, that fungus isn't too contageous.

Welcome Eric! That is indeed some fine looking art! Should you have any AF stuff, I'd be more than pleased to find a home for it on AF.net. Just don't leave it in the cupboard where Del can find it and use it for a litter box. He's bad about that kinda thing.

Hello, to my fellow Alpha Fans!.... I thought I was alone in this world.....Boy was I surprised to find this sute ...I Love it....I've been a Alpha Fan since way back...I'm talking Byrne, Vindicator, showing up in X-Men looking for logan. I wnet away for a while, not caring for some of the stuff they did after Bryne left (Puck/supernatural/non Dwarf stuff) and liking some things (Box becoming Jefferies, He still is isn't he?) I have been away for awhile.......My Fav is Vindicator, Mac, James, the original. i know they've done some strange things with him while I was away. Maybe someone could get me up to speed. I'd love that. Huge fan of the original Bryne lineup.....Lets talk...Thanks...

heh, yer talking to a guy who studies religions as a hobby, mate, to me it IS amazing. Unfortunately, it's hard as a Western Gentile to get any relevant information on Judaism that's not so drenched in 'pre-Christianity' that it gets undaunting. I was conferring with a Rabbi I knew once, but, sadly, things went down-hill after he passed away.

Hi, I'm new here... I've been a fan of Alpha Flight for most of my comic collecting life, although the comic itself has been alive longer than I have. I've glanced in and out of these boards for around a year or so, but I thought it was finally time to join up and lend my posting support for the team.

Following a return home for High School I headed off to college (where I am now) studying as an english major and minor in politics. That's it...mostly. I've been around the Alpha Flight group since the early days. I was still at CNN then...long, long time ago. I kind of got distracted and the lack of AF kind of put me on the lurk mode. But I'm still around.

Alpha Flight has the distinction of being a team I love without having ever seriously followed the comic. I was always more of an X-Men reader (a title which has since alienated me, and become incomprehensible to those who haven't been keeping score), but I always loved Alpha Flight when they turned up in Chris Claremont's issues.

Click on the photo album button towards the top of the page, go into Assorted Alpha Flight Images, and click the upload button, from there you can add the images to the album. then you can just paste the link of the image in the album into a thread. You can't actually embed image from the album into you post for security reasons, but you can certainly put the text link in :)

Hi, I'm Kevin. I'm not really new, as I've been here more than a month.

Anyways, I showed up here after looking up AF at Wikipedia. I used to be a AF critic, mostly because I didn't like the costumes.

I'm not really a big comic book fan. I decided to buy a bunch of the AF comics out of curiousity. Why did AF have so much trouble staying afloat at Marvel? Why couldn't they sustain the success of FF or X-Men? When I read the comics I am really looking for the answer to that question.

In other words: what does the FF have that AF doesn't?

I'm mostly a fan of Byrne's vision now, but some of Mantlo's ideas are great, too (Jeffries' Box looks very cool, Heather as Vindicator was a great idea). I really like the artwork in the "all new, all different" AF (minus the huge forearms), too.

BTW, I have started to like some of the costumes. Whoever re-invented the Guardian suit to look like this really improved the look a lot. http://www.alphaflight.net/character_galleries/team/team_gallery30.jpg That is my favorite look. The original with only the leaf on the left side of the body just looks too uneven.

But the big P in the Puck costume? Two Thumbs-down.

I hope Marvel creates another AF title. If they are smart, they will focus on creating a great new villian (or two), and stick with a small, simple AF made from its classic members.

I really like this board. Many knowledgeable members. Thanks!

Hello all,

I've got a bugger of a cold, this will be a quickie introduction of sorts.

I'm based in Ottawa, Ontario and I'm currently hard at work on my first graphic novel. Been a long time fan of AF, especially the original John Byrne run, and it's nifty to see a strong community like this on the net.

This is a quick sample of my work (and I hope that's ok to post!).

Hey all,

First, thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated.

Ben: the book won't be out 'til 2007. Right now I'm about 80 pages drawn with another 70 or so to go, so I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of the summer. When it's finished up, I'll be getting a lot more serious about finding a publisher. I'll self-publish if I have to, but I'd rather (for a whole pile of different reasons) go with a publisher my first time out. We'll see how it goes.
