Okay... someone who knows... is AF Special a reprint of the What if? or are they 2 different stories. (I can't find writer creds on What if, but I noticed SCOTT wrote AF Special :) )
Are they good? Should I get 'em? Is that MY breath?

What If #59 was a great story, published about the same month as AF #130. It was particularly interesting because that alternate-world story has provided the best definition of the relationship between Northstar and Wolverine. Failing to explore the dynamics between these two is Austen's WORST failing in bringing Northstar to the X-Men. The two have not really worked together, as Northstar was the last of the originals to join, presumably shortly before Wolverine defected.
The Alpha Flight Special is a separate and distinct book written by Scott, and is worth the price of admission. He served a purpose with Marvel Legal Department in using dead characters such as Egghead so Marvel wouldn't lose the name, and tols an interesting story that layered Alpha's history with facets that have still not been explored.

Plotted by Scott, scripted by Simon Furman.
