Yup, Britain got a silver medal for falling into water from a great height in a synchronised way. On our synchronised diving twosome, we had a little fella much like a hobbit and a tall fella much like an Ent. Of course the Chinese got gold. This synchronised stuff looks good, but seems confined to water. Whats wrong with Synchronised Stoat Strangling or some other minority sports.

At present am watching women weight lifters. One lady from Thailand has just lifted 90 kilo in the snatch. With that I'm off to bed.

NZ's in the running for rowing medals. We can't play basketball for s***e.

Watched the opening ceremonies last night with me g/f and her mum. Cheered like an idiot (flag included) for NZ when they came in. Even sang a bit of 'Oh Canada' when they came in...and I can get past those first two words in the anthem...^^

That said, not a lot more to report from Athens so far, apart from the amount of drug abuse thats going on. It's more like a comics convention then a celebration of sport :-)

Some late breaking news. It would seem that some of the female Beach Volleyball teams have taken humbrage at the bikini clad cheerleaders who entertain the crowd between matches. It would seem they find their attire demeaning to women. :lol: :lol: Now excuse me, but have you seen a female Beach Volleyball player. Pot, Kettle anyone?

I've been on vacation all week and have accomplished NOTHING! Well...except for my little muscle shirt I hand sewed for my 'Stitch' who is sporting the black and silver of NZ...maori style paua shell fish hook included. And I have pics of this thing too...I'm so bad. =p

We see NZ and we cheer...and jeer...our own country mind you. ie: They're in it for harrassing purposes. Actually we've been cheering on a slew of countries around this house...my Dad being the only one cheering on the Americans. He's from PA so we'll forgive him. ^^

We now have a few more medals, we got a Gold for sailing, silvers for Badminton and horse thingying, plus a few more bronzes. We seem pretty good at water sports, but as an Island nation it's to be expected, but why the hell can't we swim. If our country ever starts to sink, we're ****ed.

Lots of controversy in the horse riding, somthing to do with a German crossing the start line twice ???? Buggered if I know what thats about.

Re the beach volley ball stuff, your right Legard, but I watch purely for the athletic prowess, oh and the wobbly jugs :-)

Looking at twelve year old boys in bikinis is what got Michael Jackson into trouble in the first place, definately not for me thank you very much.

On the news front, been a bloody good day for GBR, four golds, a couple of silvers and a couple of bronze. Oh and England stuffed the Windies in the fourth test. Oh but in Olympic hockey, we got pasted by the Germans. Grown men with sticks, chasing a white ball around a field is so boring. What you need is 20 golfers, pissed as parrots running around a field, that would be entertaining.

Oh and Canadians, forgive the Coxless (Eunuchs??) fours for beating the Canadian World champs, but Matthew Pinsent is so jealous of Sir Steve Redgrave and wants his own Knighthood.

I figure the silliest thing happening so far, out of tons of silliness, is that that US guy got a Gold in gymnastics because they screwed up on the real Gold medal winner's score. Now the committee that is supposed to fix these things is run by an American and he agrees with the US coach, you can't change the mistake afterwards, "just like in football". In football if the referee says a guy scored a touchdown on third down to win the game (or 4th down to the US) when he blatantly stepped out of bounds at the two with 7 minutes left, you can't fix it. So if they added up the Korean guy's score wrong, they can't fix it.

What the F****.......??? :cry:

You can't go back in football because you'd have to replay the game from that point. However if in a game they said the score was 15-14 for the Red team but later realized that the scorer forgot to count a Blue field goal, guess what? Blue team gets awarded the win after the fact. It has happened in several sports, notably football and basketball where the official score at games end was wrong and fixed so the correct team won.

This is so easy to fix. Go to the guys with Gold and Silver and get them back. Have another ceremony where the Gold medal winner gets his Gold, and the other two get silver and Bronze. It's wrong to give Gold to two people and it's as wrong to give Gold to the American.

Notice how this seems to happen in non-sports like gymnastics, synchronized swimming, and figure skating? :roll:

New Zealand actually did more then annoy the rest of the field! We got a gold in the women's double sculls rowing! A set of twin sisters who just blew everyone else out of the water! I also think it's the first time I've ehard 'God Defend New Zealand' at an international level other then the Commonwealth games.

Mokole - This screwing about with medal positions is very prevelent at this Olympics. A british swimmer missed out on bronze cos some judge made a misjudgement when translating actual times from one language to another. In the equestrian thingies, the british team got bronze, then silver then bronze again,now not sure whats whats cos of dodgy refs.

Re American football, I actually like that, cos the forty or so refs can watch the action on telly, while the players are pasting crap out of each other. In soccer, the ref mises a lot of the action while he's trying to figure out what them blurry shapes are in front of him.

Jo, I missed the New Zealanders doing there stuff yesterday, but caught the highlights today. I wouldn't mind traditional dancing etc as an Olympic event. Great Britain v New Zealand in the final. Morris Dancing against the Haka. Now that I'd pay money for.

I was watching the games in France and I'm going back home today(nice vacation by the way). I'm also typing on a damn french keyboard, so sorry for the bad writting. I know all about french medals and perfor,ance, but nothing about Canada. What happened in Judo, no medals, I know, but I know like all the team, so it would be nice to know. Chisholm beat the french in -63 kg and we had a laugh at how they said Alexandre Despatie last name, but that's about it.

Too bad for Felicien. We need confident fun people like her in the Olympics. One mistimed step and she gets nothing. I feel sorry for her, she did her best and should have the Gold. But luck is luck. I wouldn't feel sorry for a jerk or whiner. She's a class act. =D>

Sylvie! Have a good trip home! After watching the diving I'm thinking I need to move in with you and burn@...they got some FINE looking meat in your part of Canada!! haha.

And it'll be good to have someone else I can discuss 'shotput stashing' with. ;) It's beginning to be a running joke in this house with me and mum as we watch the blokes run around in those nice skin tight outfits.
