MONTREAL! Weeeeeeee! I'm excited. It's closer than Toronto and we had a lot of fun there last time we went...so we decided to descend upon the Quebecois once again with our bad grasp of the french language(Sorry Sylvie, Burn, etc...)...but we'll try speak more french(Kurt's better than I, he lived in France for a bit)...really. I apologize for gushing, but I just wanted to share. Less than two weeks to go....Yay!

Cool! how long do you have? Because if you don't mind 3 hours drive max and you are in Quebec City and for a north american it's something to see absolutly. You like old Montreal? wait to see Québec, it's a lot bigger and you have afeel of history that is missing a lot in Old Montreal.

Ok, if you like the night life, it's a lot better in Montreal but if you like history and scenery Québec is the town.

And maybe this website will help you:

I visited Quebec city about 10 years ago and it was very beautiful(and people were very nice, even though I speak almost no french...I tried my best, though). I stayed at a cute little hotel called the Belley(sp) hotel(just below the Chateau Frontenac...pictured above so beautifully by Sylvie...thanks). I do want to go back again.

I went a little bit over the top with that too big pic, but what can I say I liked it :P

And don't worry about not speaking french, people are usually friend with visitors and most of all with people that do try to say a little merci even if it's all they know about the language. No they only get bad when those visitors becames resident and still don't talk french, those... :-& ](*,)

Hmmm....P.E.I. ? What's it like up there, Ben? The only thing I know about P.E.I. is "Anne of Green Gables"....and that's about it(seriously).

Yah, as Jo Knows, that's an island pet peeve. There's much more than Anne! We have beautiful beaches and countryside. Just about the nicest people you could find. Great camping, and most of all, it's a quiet place to get away from the busy life...unless you work here ;)

That's OK, better than many US reactions. "oh, is that in BC?"

That is pretty...and I see(from these pics and the ones of your house being constructed) why you called it your "little red island". Very nice.

Wow, that was a nice trip considering all those pics. Makes me want to go to the Maritimes too :) I've been to Halifax and it's a nice city. Made my think of Québec (city) with it's citadelle and the old quarter but only very much english compared to Québec where english is very much present but so are the french legacies.

I think those poeple did not like big cities, they went from Ontario to the Maritimes and never stopped to Montreal. :P

Yah Dana, though many other places have red soil, it's one of the things we are particularily known for. I remember when I first saw NON red soil when I was little, I though something was wrong with it.

Yes Sylvie, Halifax is very similare to Quebec City. The hilly streets and all too. Halifax is a great city as far as cities go, but I myself am NOT a city boy. When I first moved there I though it was HUGE until I got to know it a bit better, and it didn't seem THAT big. It was still too big for me. Country living called me back :)

We had so much fun....I wish I didn't have to come back home. :D We went to the Botanical gardens, the Olympic stadium, restaurants....I even found a comic store out in Laval(where we stayed...it's where Aurora lived :D ), but it unfortunately was closing by the time I got there.

Dana :D

Just because there is a word sensor enabled on the forum, it does NOT give you free reign to run off at the mouth with profanity. This is a family friendly place, and needless profanity is not welcomed.
