Quick Question 1

I've been playing the game 'Brothers In Arms' and there is a quote in it that I don't recognise. I was wondering if one of the more learned board members could throw some light on it. The quote is

I understand the hard hearts of heroes, the courage of modern times

Any takers.

It is from the poem "Leaves of Grass" written by Walt Whitman in 1855 the piece later became known as "Song of Myself"...the end of the quote is also slightly different. The actual quote is"I understand the hard hearts of heroes, the courage of present times of all times" It's considered one of his greatest pieces...it was also considered quite a naughty bit of reading back in those days too. lol

Its from "Requiem" by Robert Louis Stevenson

Under the wide and starry sky
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
