At the Jinxworld messageboard, Brian Bendis has been posting a few peeks of some of his upcoming work, including the cover to New Avengers #17 by Steve McNiven, and a two page spread featuring Alpha Flight from New Avengers #16. Marvel’s February solicitations (which contain the solicitation information for issue #16), promise that the issue features Alpha Flight in their final battle.
First Avengers Dissasembled tears apart the team...
Then House of M elimiates most of the mutants...
And now, we have Alpha falling into Bendis' hands...
Anyone scared?

****ting bricks.
I'm freaking out about certain possibilities, and am very excited about other posibilities. There is a lot of speculation that Alpha Flight was be reformed into an "avengers north" which I can stand if it means the team getting a book that will actually last more than a year. The chances of them being killed I don't like, espcially with Bendis' history with such things. If they simply disband, I can deal with that, as they've disbanded and reformed so many times, what's once more?

Well, I guess if it results in Avengers North that would be OK, but better not include mostly ex X-men!
The more I look at the sketch, the more I think AF either gets killed, some killed, or beaten so badly that they'll be in traction for years to come.

Fingers crossed the team won't be hit too hard. If anything I think Bendis will wack Lobdell's version i.e Puck II and Major Mapleleaf Jr.
Offtopic: Did anyone see alcholic Puck in X-Men Unlimited wolverine issue? Eww...

Heya JackFrostUK! glad to see you joined up :) I had that thought, that he may take a chance to clear things up a bit in the watters muddied by Lobdell.
We have a topic here somewhere about that (drunken Puck). I haven't gotten the issue yet, but hope to soon.

It's a nice site and forum. Might do some fan art.
I'm still trying to complete my Alpha Flight collections of Vol 1, 2 and 3. Should do it one day.
Whats the current status of Northstar? I heard he got wacked in Wolvie.

Hiya Mr Frost, your correct in regards to Northstar. Wolvie slice and deced him, then the Hand resurected him, now I think S.H.I.E.L.D have the zombiefied Northstar. Joe Quesada said in his column yesterday that there are plans for Northstar.
Anyways, welcome to the forum.

Hi JackFrostUK!
I hope we get some credible rumours. Man, I read that Alpha Flight might come back, Alpha Flight might die, Northstar may rejoin Alpha Flight, Wolverine may lead Alpha Flight, Bendis is a poopiehead, Bendis is better than you think, Marvel has something good up it's sleeve, this is the end of AF, this is just story and means nothing to Alpha Flight's future in comics...
And you know, I only post at two boards and both have people from the United Kingdom on board. Here and a TML board.

I am beginning to doubt that anyone in Alpha Flight will be killed, it's just the usual meaningless solicits that editors write to sell books, like Tieri and Lobdell complained about. Especially Tieri, who went so far as to post his disdain and true info about upcoming Wepon X issues.
BTW, who would take care of baby girl Hudson if the Hudsons get killed?
And this is the original AF, since Heather is there and Aurora/Northstar aren't.
Time for Alpha Flight in 2006!!

ew!
Does Aurora know about this? Last time i saw her she kidnapped Colcord in Weapon X.

I think Aurora left Colcord and struck out on her own, but I could be and probably am wrong in this. I don't think there has been any indication that she is aware Northstar was dead/Zombiefied and now whatever.

I believe this epilogue issue will be used to introduce this new threat and to create suspence... Having said that, what possible suspence could it create for the New Avengers if the thing is stopped by Alpha, barely gets by alpha, or just beats them and walks away. Plus after seeing the scared look on Sasks' face... I have a bad feelign there will be major casualties.

I'm wondering if the Collective thing is like a virus and it infects the members of AF so thy wind up fighting NA?
Of course, that has been done soooo many times and is unlikely here.
BTW, it looks to me like Sasquatch is yelling at the guy/gal/thing coming out of the smoke, not scared. You know, yelling "are you OK" or "what's going on" or "who are you".

Time for Alpha Flight in 2006!!
I second that! One of the things I'm curious about is the reason(s) why Alpha Flight is making an appearance in NA at all?
Hopefully over the next couple of issues this will be set up or explained. The phrase "Final Battle" can be taken SO many ways. If they disband, like Ben said, what's one more time? If it's a name change, that's okay as long it's motivated or has a connection to the history of the team. If they're killed off out right?-we all know Bendis' track record. I just hope know they go down fighting and are shown as the heroes they are!

Yeah I think it was Puck that looked scared or concerned, my bad. Oh, btw, I checked out Bendis' Jinxworld and he said "Alpha Flight, the next Hawkeye" in reference to all the hate mail he's been getting.

That pretty much matches my theory as to what is going to happen. Just by piecing together what info they have released and it sounds like they are launching some sort of new “threat” to the Marvel Universe and AF is going to be the first group of heroes to encounter it.
Anyone who watches horror flicks knows it’s never a good thing to be the first one to run into the monster. I hope that’s not the case.

I'm sorry but if Bendis thinks he's killing off the entire team I've got a yellow snowball with his name on it. That's garbage "AF, the next Hawkeye". If they go down he better do it with respect otherwise this team is doomed.

Unless of course the monster thinks you're dead along with all of the other supporting cast just so you can jump out in the last 15 minutes and save the day and explain all you've found out about the new threat. Of course with Alpha's track record I'd have to say they're likely toast!

Let's hope Marvel threw these tid bits out to see the reaction and make future plans based on that.
Purely financially speaking, it would be a poor choice to allow Bendis to kill AF off. They have all these lines of products coming out just now, it wouldn't be smart. Having a big storyline involving these characters, now THAT would be smart.

I just don't see AF being killed off here, at least not the whole team. Major Mapleleaf certainly seems like cannon fodder as well as Puck II but how can Bendis kill off anyone else in that pic? Sasquatch can't die (only because he rules and they need to sell action figures). And you can't keep Mac dead for more than 20 issues on average.

By the way Ben nice job of defending AF over on Newsarama. Some people can’t seem to understand that just because they don’t know or like the characters doesn’t mean everyone else feels the same way.

Major Mapleleaf certainly seems like cannon fodder.
I don't see Thunder anywhere in the pic either, so what can the Major's chances really be. I can see Zusha biting it trying to save his sorry butt. At least we know he'll go down fighting the good fight. If indeed it is Shaman depicted and not Earthmover, it would present an opportune time to make the change from old to new guard as well. This could be where PuckII earns her new moniker also. As much as I'd hate to see it happen, coming out of the battle with only Sas, Guardian, Vindicator, and PuckII standing wouldn't be a terrible outcome. Now if the battle field is littered with Alpha corpses I'd be pissed. And even though Puck and Shaman are two of my personal favorites, I think I could part with them if it gives the team a chance at a new book. I guess we just have to hold our breath and wait.

Thanks RatCat. That one person's comments about the chracters didn't sit well with me, but I tried to present my points in a diplomatic way that might make him thing "maybe I was wrong" oh well, all we can do is state our own opinions, and try to respect those of others.

screw diplomacy.
desperate times calls for desperate measures!!
flame them all!!!

sorry, but all that defending over at quesada's and bendis's boards has finally made me snap.
