Anyone ever seen this before? I happened upon it in Google.

He is a DC character. Is the helmet similarity a coincidence?

The original comic hero "The Guardian" is from 1942. Did Byrne and Claremont receive any inspiration from this guy?
The Guardian's real name was Jim Harper. Jim/James, Harper/Hudson. Am I grasping at straws here?
Humorously, Jim Harper was also cloned, twice!!

On AF Gardian? I don't know, but except for the name, as I remember it, this one don't really looked like Mac. I mostly saw him with Superman and the news boys legion (he was literally their gardian)

Ah, that's the Guardian that played heavily in the Superman world - works/ed for Cadmus (the project that cloned Superman to create Superboy during the 'Death of Superman" plot).
ALthough the similiarities are striking, he was designed more as a Captain America rip-off.

I wouldn't be surprised if Byrne wasn't inspired slightly by that character.
