Now that Jessica Jones is in Canada, with her and Luke Cage's baby, is that the start of the 'heroes' who will form the American-rumoured Alpha Flight?
Still a long way to go.
was thinking the same thing.

I dont know who Jessica Jones is but will her powers be any benefit to Alpha Flight
luke cages wife, she has powers but is semi-retired. not really interested in her as a possible af member as i am in the fact that the "run for the border" has began.

As far as I know she's strong and can fly, was once the hero 'Jewel'.
The last page of this New Avengers issue put a huge smile on my face. It ends with Jessica at a duty free shop on Falls Ave in Niagara Falls. That location's about a 10 minute walk from my house.

You forgot to mention that she was also conveniently retconned into being around for a long time too(in Marvel history). I hate when writer's do that...As far as I'm concerned...She's just a Mary Sue character (based on Bendis's wife) by a professional fan-fiction writer(who also happens to be a bit of a hack).

You do realize that this is what Byrne did with Alpha Flight? If you read the origin stories in the first eleven issues, they were around in the days when the Fantastic Four was first getting started.

That's all possible because of Marvel's "sliding timeline." Without it, Peter Parker would in his 50s today.
Besides, most of the origin stories of early Alpha Flight are placed 5-15 years before AF#1.

Perhaps I should have said "I hate when writer's do that...with crappy characters".

They did say early on that one hero would leave the country and move to France. It's not like Marvel to misdirect it's fans.

I thought I heard Thing was moving to France, I know Daredevil is.

It's not easy to keep track of everything but so far Jessica Jones is in Canada, Thing is in France (but that can hange fast), and Daredevil is in prison. Iron Fist Daredevil I have no idea what's up with him.

Jessica Jones is really just a copy of Spider Woman. Bendis has always had a hard on for the character.
Her shoe-horning into the Marvel universe has been rather unrealistic. She just happens to be some minor league super hero we have never heard before, but she knows the Avengers, Luke Cage, and all these others. It was a bit of a stretch, even though some people I know assume she existed before Bendis brought her in. Only the Sentry has a more unrealistic retcon into Marvel continuity.

The difference being, no real interaction with the FF was retconned into Byrne's origin back-ups. The Jessica Jones retcon is akin to AF having an influence on the early FF (instead of the formation of the FF et al having an influence on Mac's formation of AF.)

Alpha's sorta retconed origin can be exlpained away simply because they were in Canada.
Jessica Jones was supposedly one of Peter Parker's class mates, and she had a secret crush on him. She was on the field trip that lead to Spiderman's origin. She's been a long time friend of Ms. Marvel. She was a victim of the Purple Man, and was made to attack the Avengers.
She'd been part of the whole super hero scene in New York, but she had never been seen before. She just comes into existence with Alias and the Pulse but she's supposed to be something of a famous hero (the Young Avengers look up to her) so her existence just doesn't make any sense.

Wow...The more I hear about Ms. Jones...the more ridiculous she seems. Not to mention sounding more and more like a badly written fan-fic character...ugh!

She spent time in Madripoor as a detective along side Wolverine early on in his series as well. She had spider powers then. This was back in the late 80's/early 90's.

How did she first get her powers? Don't tell me she was bit by the same spider as Peter!

Yeah, if you do take into account that she has had maybe 75 appearances in various comics since her creation and she has that much drama. You're right....It took X-men 30 years of stories to become the high soap opera it is today.
