Anyone read the Harry Dresden books? I recently discovered them and they are a blast. I highly recommend them.
Basic premise is that Harry is a wizard/private detective in Chicago where most think he's a fake. The books are funny, well-written, lots of plote twists and filled with the supernatural, crime bosses, gangs and all sorts of things that go bump in the night.
Word is that the SciFi channel is planning a series based on the books that should air around Jan '07.
