Omega Flight #1 Sells Out & Goes Back To Press

Marvel is pleased to announce that Omega Flight #1, featuring the debut of Canada's new super team, has sold out at Diamond. Featuring the talents of writer Mike Oeming (Thor) and Scott Kolins (Annihilation: Prologue), the inaugural issue of this limited series has struck a chord with both retailers and fans.

To meet demand for this issue, Marvel Comics is going back to print on Omega Flight #1 with a variant cover featuring interior art by Scott Kolins.

In the wake of Civil War, Canada has put together its own super-team called Omega Flight, the last line of defense for the Great White North against super villain insurgents from abroad. Unfortunately for the Canadians, before Omega Flight can band together, a powerful team of villains have decided to turn their northern neighbor into a playground for plundering.

Note, Omega Flight #1 may still be available at the retailer level. Marvel advises that retailers check their orders for upcoming issues as Omega Flight continues to benefit from strong reviews and word of mouth. Also, don't miss your chance to find out how it all began—check out Alpha Flight Classic Vol.1, in stores now, presenting the first 8 issues of the Canadian superteam's adventures.

All right! :D What wonderful news! I'm glad to see our Canadian heroes finally getting some recognition, (and good sales). Wonder if this will lead to an ongoing series? We can only hope.

That is absolutely spectacular news! I am sooo going to my store tomorrow and asking them to place the order for the variant, because... wow, we get a variant!!! Ah, I'm like a kid whose millionaire daddy just bought the candy store.

I'm pretty sure the variant cover is the pic of Sas going apes#!t on Bulldozer from the interiors.

Very cool.
I'd have preferred new artwork rather than reprinted interior, but a 2nd printing is a 2nd printing so I'm not complaining.

Anyone care to guess what page'll be the cover?

I hope it'll be the "It ain't Captain America" page (sans text of course) with Sas stomping some Wrecking Crew butt!!!

Sweeeeet! Best news I've heard all day!

I can't wait for Marvel powers that be to come forward with tail between legs and say..."Um, we were wrong! Due to the overwhelming support Omega Flight has received we'll be extending the contracts of Michael Avon Oeming and Scott Kolins to produce another 24 issues of Omega Flight. We still believe in our heart of hearts that you fans are wrong and anything remotely associated with Alpha Flight is destined to suck, but we'll humor all of you as long as you'll pay us to do so. But just so you don't get too excited....Puck is still dead!"

*scratches head* When did Sasquatch go ape s#!t on Bulldozer? I can see Wrecker and Thunderball, but he didn't do much to Bulldozer or Piledriver other than toss them off of him.

Whoo! This is great news!! I'll be picking up this cover just for a blown up shot of Sasquatch going Ape-****. I'm so happy. I'd imagine you're even happier though Mike, how does it feel knowing that your work is in such high demand?

I would be incredibly surprised if they didn't wait until the entire run is over before making that crucial decision that we're all waiting for.

My biggest worry is that while the first issue had great sales, great reviews, and great community support, the 2nd issue won't perform quite as well (for whatever reason), thereby killing our hopes for an ongoing.

Awesome news. Selling out in less than a week is very impressive. It doesn't happen all that much anymore that I've heard about.

yeah.. they deffinantly won't make a move towards an ongoing till after the secodn issue atleast, its not how many buy it, its how many come back.. and once reviews for the 2nd issue come in, then things will start looking up.

My thoughts exactly, I've said it before: my bet is that they'll announce it as an ongoing at the Canadian National Comic Book Expo in August (which is when the mini should go through its last issue.)

that makes sense. but i'm sure they will tell mike, scott and reber first (which means ben will know, and pretend he doesn't) and make a announcement after the series, and probally re-launch with a new #1.

but anyhow, congrats mike, scott and reber. you have put a fantastic story out there and the masses have came.

not trying to thumb my nose, but i wonder if avengers: the iniative sold out.

I dunno. To be fair, it probably had a larger print run....

But I'm not sure.

Anyone got the numbers on that?

Those are Dozer's little booties sticking out underneath Sas when he makes his entrance.

Thunderball

That's Thunderball, after Sasquatch does that and lays out Wrecker the ones who are staring Sasquatch down are Piledriver and Bulldozer.

Most excellent news. My buddy who only read 1 ish of AF thought Omega was a great read and is looking forward to #2. I was going to buy up the others at my LCS and give them out but they sold out. :o

Very happy camper.

Fantastic! I put a question in at Newsarama's Cup o' Joe to see if OF's numbers were looking good for the change to an ongoing, maybe it'll get picked to be answered with the sell out news.

Take a careful look KM, that's Bulldozer he lands on. Note the studs that circle the boots and the colour of the pants. When Sas is tagging Wrecker, there's a panel with Bulldozer climbing out of the hole.

Uh, no, it's Dozer.
Sas JUMPS at Wrecker, leaving Dozer time to crawl out of the hole

This is fantastic news!! KUDOS to the entire creative team for putting out a such a strong product. Keep up the effort for Issue #2 guys. We are the official Alpha/Omega Army. The fight is not over until we have our ongoing. I have reserved 3 copies of each issue so i can give 2 out to people at my local comic store. The first 2 lucky fanboys loved it and are gonna spread the word as well. WOOT!! I'm a very happy Flight Fan!! :D

This is such incredible news! I really hope that this gives Marvel enough reason to make this an ongoing series.

I am so impressed with this writer/artist combination and I am in love with the new team.

Great job to everyone who is promoting, pushing, or otherwise supporting the Flight.

This is excellent news. I had to travel to Forbidden Planet in Shaftsbury Ave to snag myself a copy as it was sold out in all the smaller shops I visited. Congrats to all the creative team.
