It was a good argument. Both sides argued it eloquently and intelligently. But when 2 sides reach an impass that cannot be resolved by debate. We will have a vote. SHRA good or bad? You vote you choose.

As the Act is right now I say it's bad. I can understand the reasoning behind it, and if the real world had people who could knock buildings down with a punch, yeah I would want them trained and held accountable. However, I wouldn't trust any ANY government that impressed super beings into their military. This is against all civil and moral rights that we hold dear, not to mention it could be seen as the first step in hostile action towards other countries. After all, what do you do with a super army once super crime is under control?

Of course you fight terrorism in Islamic nations with no exit strategy

No, actually this is a very good point. What would China think about this piece of legislation? I'm sure they wouldn't be thrilled. They'd put two and two together. Even some of the USA's allies would probably be a bit leary. Check out Omega Flight if you don't agree with that statement!

So now that you have all of these supers registered to fight supervillains and/or their old allies who are anti-reg, who's responsible for the fallout. If Iron Man and Luke Cage go toe to toe and a building gets knocked over or even a wall gets knocked in, do you start looking at Iron Man for using excessive force, or do you just charge Luke Cage with destroying personal or public property. Say The Thing uses a lamppost to take down a villain, does he get cited for destroying public property. I doubt it! So what good does it really do to have them all registered? I can't see Iron Man sitting through a training session with newly regisitered supers, and they should all supposedly receive the same "military" training. The whole thing just seems to me like cataloging a specific group with the hopes of controlling them. Try that with Muslims, Hispanics, African Americans, or Causasians and you'd have a bloody war on your hands, too. As a citizen I'd be scared $#!@less if the US government announced today that all Hispanics would have to be registered. There'd be mayhem in the streets of every major city in the country. Sure many would go ahead and register and go peacefully about their business, but many more would act out violently at the unfair treatment. Many would flee into Canada, I'm sure. You'd see the same things that are going on in MU. So would it be good or bad to make every Hispanic register? Not in a country based on personal freedom.

I ramble! And I'm sure I made little sense. Even as I wrote this I wondered if I actually made a point. Anyway, I think the Reg Act is flawed and therefor BAD!

As it was initially pitched, the SHRA was a great idea. A wonderful way to toss some accountability into the mix.

But now we have armored thugs press-ganging inoffensive children into service.

So, with that in mind, I say bad.

I also agree that Registration in principal is a good thing. I dont agree that as it is and how it was executed was right. The SHRA as it is now is bad. But like Talisman said its worked in Canada for sol long because they did right. Iron Man and SHIELD are NOT doing it right

I agree with the whole "good in theory" thing also. I've always been against the act though, even when it was initially mentioned online, because I immediately knew that it was going to go way beyond simply holding people accountable.

Voted NO!

I voted bad as well. However, in doing so I would make it clear that I am not siding with the anti-regs in their advocation of war in it's face or in their determination to maintain anynomity. I am loyal to the system and the people, and am against various particulars of the SRA only within that context. Call me the loyal opposition.

Knowing the United States, their Reg Act is written up completely different than the Canadian version.

Yeah. The Canadian government doesn't forcably abduct it's superheroes. It doesn't hold them against their will. It doesn't (try to) press them into service, let alone by setting hero against hero. It doesn't make clones. Etc.

LOL...I wasn't even thinking about AF vol 2, until you said that...I guess I was thinking more in terms of how the real USA and Canada are right now.

Dana :D

P.S. You forgot the brain-washing, Pow.
