Great topic! Here are mine (off the top of my head— as with all lists like this, it probably changes from year to year):

1. Abomination (is there a meaner looking villain? seriously...)
2. The Destroyer (looks like he means it)
3. Galactus (okay, the head gear's a little hokey, but wow, what a concept— I was SO pissed when they just wussed out and made him a cloud in FFROTSS)
4. Absorbing Man (good old crusher creel is always fun)
5. Pestilence (what a unique and awesome villain, still my favorite AF baddie)
6. Wendigo (wicked cool...McFarlane's treatment of him was AWESOME)
7. Surtur (Asgardians tremble at the mere mention of his name, nuff said)
8. The Sandman (what cool powers...my favorite classic Spidey villain)
9. Madcap (from the Daredevil series...funny and mysterious)
10. Scramble/Omega (I hated that they killed him off...they could easily bring him back though; wouldn't be the first character blown to smithereens to reconstitute himself and come back with a vengeance years later)

a couple I wanted to include but couldn't due to there being some question as to whether or not they are truly "villains"...Honorable Mentions, if you will:

HM 1. The Beyonder (SW & SWII is still Marvel's best miniseries in my view)
HM 2. Scourge (my favorite Captain America storyline...who could forget his mowing down all those B-List baddies at "The Bar With No Name"? Hell, half the Book of the Dead is filled with his victims...awesome and original)

Again, great topic. So nice to be hanging out somewhere I can be a total nerd without repercussion.

10-John Byrne

LOL!!!

I hope you're joking...His online personna might be really distasteful to many, but he's a hero for his work on X-Men, Fantastic Four, Superman, Alpha Flight, The Next Men, X-Men: The Hidden Years and scores more...Many may not like the man, but he does/has done amazing work.

"LOL" means "laugh out loud", therefore JOKING. C'mon lighten up; it was funny. Of course Byrne's mega-talented, nobody suggested otherwise. Putting him in a top ten list of favorite villains is probably something he would find amusing; I am certain he is fully aware of SOME people's view of his public persona, as are we fully aware that it has little to do with his abilities. Personally, I could care less if he's the biggest prick since Steve Irwin's stingray. His personal life's his own business.

... I'm honestly not sure if that was funny or in poor taste.... :?

Some things are funny BECAUSE they're in poor taste (i.e. South Park, Family Guy, etc.); however, I suppose it depends on the boundary lines of an individual's sense of humor— I lean a little toward the dark side, but I am aware many others do not. Sorry if anyone was offended. I did like Steve Irwin, but as a public figure I think he's fair game for jokes...right up there with Natalie Wood.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Smikey, I DID think it was funny - I got a warped sense of humour too - but at the same time, not sure if I SHOULD think it's funny. I'm going to say that it's funny for me.

4 : Korvac
5 : Thanos

LOL you can put Ronald Raegan and the Bush dynasty along with that for making college tuition skyrocket :x

And this may be a question born out of my ignorance of the Marvel world but I thought Iron Man was not a villain?

And this may be a question born out of my ignorance of the Marvel world but I thought Iron Man was not a villain?

Traditionally speaking, no he isn't, but considering his actions during Civil War, Iron Man isn't exactly anyone's idea of a "good" guy. Some of his actions were less than heroic, like locking up the heroes who wouldn't register in the Negative Zone (not to meantion, meddling in Canadian affairs when he sent USAgent to Canada during the Omega Flight series, tho that didn't turn out too badly.)
