That was Alpha Flight Classics Vol 1 which featured Alpha Flight 1-8. Classics Vol 2 features Alpha Flight 9-16. I was pre-ordering it on Amazon.com until the release date of August 20th was removed. I just wanted to know if anyone knows when the release date actually will be.

Joe Q had something interesting to say about AF on the myspace Cup 'o Joe week 17...

Steven Ghost asks:

Hey,

1) Will 'Wolverine' ever have a writer with long term plans for the book, and whose on for more than one story arc?

2) and, Are there any plans for an Omega Flight ongoing?

JQ- Steven, thanks for your questions.
1- Probably some day. Right now we're enjoying getting to see different takes on Wolverine, but who knows what the future might hold.
2- There's definitely plans for some kind of 'Flight...

Well, I hope the "Flight" he has in mind would be the Classic Flight; at least, the surviving members: Northstar, Aurora, Sasquatch, Snowbird, and Talisman.

But, of course, death doesn't really mean anything in Marvel, so who's to say that the others won't be revived as well?

Trewqp
07-12-2008, 08:21 PM
yay i've been asking some questions and paying attention to marvel and their myspaces and the cup o joe thing.
well i guess only time will tell.
they should have the same exact members as the orginal alpha flight, and maybe include major maple leaf II, yay i thought he was awsome.

So Joe Q. admits, finally, that there are plans for Alpha Flight. Good. Hopefully we'll have the scoop and images at or before Toronto Con.

Dr. Doom, we're pleased to discuss and talk about AF with anyone.

Good to be back home after my latest adventure. We never go on vacations or take trips, we have adventures!

Hope the AF plans concern a series, not a mini.....

Given how the Ultimate series go, I'd be extremely surprised at an Ultimate AF; after all, you'd think Ultimate Wolverine, Cap, X-Force, Excalibur, Hulk, and so on would get first dibs.

Last night, when i was having a dream, a ghost came to me in a vision and said that there is going to be an alpha flight series, and it will be coming soon!! this is fate guys, lets admit it, its going to happen!!
and then pamela anderson came into my dream and well....

Mokole
07-15-2008, 09:10 PM
yes, the pleasant surprise of Alpha Flight is more possible than the unpleasantness of good old UAF. At least we have ideas going around that AF is returning, and maybe Mr. Van Lente is the creator... maybe, a guess of course.

And wouldn't Scot Kolins or Clay Henry be good choices as artists 8)

Trewqp
07-16-2008, 05:18 AM
Well i took a nap just now and had this dream, while me and pamela were **talking** and doing things, northstar came in out of nowhere and said hey!!! and then picked me up and took me to the x-mansion in 1 minute, all the while pam saying hey baby where ya going. while i was at the x-mansion, i kept wanting to beat up night crawler ( i dislike him very much ). and wanting to rub xaviers head, although i kept seeing northstar trying to flirt with iceman, and then iceman would say, "bro, get away from me". and then i woke up.
Does anyone find this dream crazy?
i mean it went from pamela anderson to the x-mansion, DAM YOU BRAIN!!

not exactly sure who ben morse is (marvel editor?) but someone asked him another flight question:

Ben;

After being away from comic for awhile. I really fell in love with the Ultimate Line and I was told there was going to be major things happen and some titles will be cancelled can you tell us what will happen and what titles are going make and will there be new titles introduced?

Are we ever going to see Omega flight again as a mini or ongoing soon?

Any Ultimate series might end after Ultimatum but Spider-Man isn't supposed to. The Ultimate Universe comics will continue.

Apparently the Ultimatum crossover is to deal with how the Earth heroes have screwed up so much or deal with how they were all created (allegedly all mutants are Weapon X projects, other heroes are derived from Captain America and Project:Rebirth, and so on).

And Ultimate AF will have nothing to do with it.

I'm guessing a lot of retconns will come from Ultimatum (like how can all mutants be the result of Weapon X when some are older than Weapon X, how can Dr. Cornelius be over 80 years old but be 40-ish when working for Weapon X, how are the FF supposed to be tied to Project:Rebirth, or Iron Man....)

phil jimenez on dream projects:

Whom do you want to draw that you have not gotten a chance to draw yet?

Oh god, there is no one. The beautiful thing about doing these large crossovers is I get to draw everyone. Who I would love to do… My two dream projects at Marvel would be the John Byrne Alpha Flight team and the Chris Claremont/Bill Sienkiewicz New Mutants team. If I could draw any two teams professionally, maybe even meld them, [it would be them]. That would be a dream.

Plus, this time I will continue with volume 3 and Omega (and continue with Marvel Comics Presents and Hercules)...last time I read these runs was back before Vol 3 started.

Also, Marvel has plans for Alpha Flight next year...shhh...don't tell anyone I revealed that. :x

Seems odd to me that neither Fred nor Rich know what is going on.

Y'know, with the X-Men apparently relocating to the West Coast, and Alpha Flight has at times been located on the West Coast as well, i wonder if they are bringing Fligth back as an off-shoot of X-Men. If that were the case, i'd expect that Flight would be manned by mainly mutants. Perhaps some of Canada's surviving mutants band together, as a northern satellite of X-Men?

Truth to tell, that doesn't sound all that good to me...

Okay, another thing. If Marvel plans on launching a new Flight book in 2009, doesn't it make sense that they would already have a team in place, a team that has already submitted plans for what they want the book to look like, who is on the team, that sort of thing? If so, and Rich and Fred are not involved...who the heck is gonna be controlling this thing; surely they didn't lure John Byrne back, did they?

Ryan Maxwell

If John Byrne ever goes back to Marvel, the last title I'd expect him to take over would be AF.

Mokole
07-25-2008, 07:21 PM
Thing is, guys and gals, that they do have a creative team in place. But there's no way anyone is going to be allowed to say that; after all, they want momentum heading into the relaunch and thus don't want too long a lag period from now 'til then.

Also, they don't want the creative team pestered a lot before they make a firm announcement. Courtesy is part of it, but it's mostly about that lag time thing. So Fred and/or Rich could be involved but, like anyone else, they can't say, "OK, you got me, I'm the new writer" in any event.

Whoever is writing isn't going to be a big hitter, well known and 'been around the block' a few times. It'll be a writer out of the loop for a while or an up and comer who they want to give a meaty ongoing. Seagle and Oeming were the latter, Lobdell the former.

Jason Aaron, Francis Portella, Ivan Brand, lots of possibilities in my books; and don't forget writers/artists who currently work for other companies and Marvel wants to give them a shot.

Well, we've now had Northstar killed (Ultimate this time) for the fourth time, and the last two Guardians have been a mutant American vampire/postman and (most likely) Gambit (Ultimate). On the positive side, Pointer is Weapon Omega and may be gone with MCP #12, Gambit in UAF is called Vindicator not Guardian, and it was only Ultimate Northstar that died.

Other recent appearances of AF are much more palatable!

I'm still thinking the comic book convention in Toronto late August can't go by without news on AF (and hopefully NOT like last time, where Joe Q et al simply lied for a few months... :? ). I think Marvel HQ learned their lesson on that one.

And I'm betting Ben here knows something, finally, and is more than pleased to not spoil our speculating just yet.

Are you going to have a another Omega Flight ongoing or mini and can you please have Snowbird and other Alpha Flight make the team,

1. Keep reading Thor.
2. As I've noted a few times, there are definitely plans on the horizon for *a* Flight.

Well, at least Mr. Morse is keeping us interested. Few hints anywhere as to what to look forward to but oh well.

No WE should not.
Civilized people do not conduct 'flame wars' so do not be associating this site with any or you will find yourself promptly banned from here.

We've built up a fairly good rapport with Marvel and it's creators and we don't want it ruined.

Final words on the matter.

As you might have guessed, Troy, we don't take to kindly about that kind of talk around here. Alpha Waves prides itself as being one of the more friendly boards around.

Yeah I occasionally check out the Marvel boards and a few others but try to stay away from them. WAY to many trolls on those boards. This is truly the nicest and most civil message board out there.

Coming soon...

Upsilon Flight!

(BTW, Troy, there's been... troubles... in the past with people doing evil in this forum's name. Don't take it too personally if we have to come down hard.)

I'd wish they'd make another omega flight mini-series, BUT marvel should still give us our long-due alpha ON-GOING series.
it'd be cool to see omega flight and alphaflight looking at each other, and watch them go at it. to see who just is the best flight team.

Le messor, can we keep posting... these serious, yet uneccasry, yet needed.... overly dramtic dots and words?

Am i doing evil while starting massive flame wars and saying i REPRESENT alpha flight? i mean dis is da internet streets homie's, we gotta stay as a gang and cap them motha sucka's non-flight fans!!

Someone on Newsarama had a great sig that read: Don't argue with an idiot, they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with superior experience, or something close to that. In other words, if you want to get involved in a flamewar, all that's going to happen is you'll look like an idiot. If you somehow get Alpha Waves involved then you'll drag us down as well. Ben, Phil, all the mods and all of us members try hard to keep this board away from that, so tread carefully, eh.

Excellent work. Much better. Do a few reps of smileys every day until it feels natural, then cut back to doing them every other day. Soon it'll be second nature to use them. :P
