There's stirrings of talks and rumours about something happening in the world of Flight, so I decided to rant. I want this out there before there's anything specific, anything solid.

This is not just for the benefit of Marvel, but for those who expect me to take whatever garbage Marvel dishes out and love it.

I've often said that I love Alpha Flight. I've even said at times (depending on how Marvel is operating at the time) that I want a new Alpha Flight series.

'Alpha Flight', a term which here is a linguistic short-cut.
What I really mean is, 'John Byrne created a beautiful, character-driven series with a particular group of characters I love. I enjoyed the light style, the sense of hope and wonder, the attention to detail, the twists and turns, the mystical storylines, the iconic designs, the stylised but realistic art that felt 'big', with the bright colouring, and yes, even the fact it wasn't set in the USA.'

I do not mean I have some sort of fetish for the word 'Flight' and the Greek alphabet. I like both, don't get me wrong, but that's not what I'm here for.

When I say I love Alpha Flight, when I ask for a new Alpha Flight series, I mean all that stuff I just wrote; I do not mean those words on the cover of a comic. If a series is published by Marvel, set in Canada, has something like Sasquatch (and maybe another Alphan) in it, and 'Flight' and a Greek letter on the cover, that's not good enough.

It might be a great series--I loved Omega Flight--but it isn't what I've been asking for.

Here endeth the lesson.

Well spoken, i'd try and give a serious comment, but i'd know it end up being random and dumb

One thing for me is to have characters I like and want to see develop. Characters with what I call 'non-example' powers is best.

Feedback, Box, Windshear, Witchfire, Nemesis from the 1st go around. Not that I didn't like Puck or anyone else, but these ones drew me in the most.

Ghost Girl, Flex, radius, Flinch, as little as they were involved, in series 2.

Nemesis and Zuzha had the most potential in series 3.

OF really had no character to draw my attention.

I'm not 'settling' when I want Guardian in series 4, but I am being realistic. Feedback, Box, Ghost Girl, Nemesis, Witchfire are all still out there. But I understand that, outside of Nemesis, a new (and I mean ongoing) AF series will use more well-known characters.

I'm not interested in a mini, been there, done that. An OF ongoing is OK but what I really want is a true AF ongoing, not a miniseries in disguise. Marvel doesn't get my money for screwing around, after all.

Again well spoken.
I like those list of characters, But if we can bring everyone else back form the dead, why cant we bring the Orignial guardian back.
I read omega flight befor i read alpha flight, but i like omega flight a little more than AF.
also, US agent and BRB really drew me in

There are alot of Alphans that are still alive and some of the Omega team that I would not mind seeing in an ongoing Alpha book. No offense to any of those characters as many are strong enough to contribute to a team book. But why settle and accept that the originals are dead when everyone else and their mom is brought back to life. No one stays dead in comics. Why should Alpha Flight be the exception? Im not sure if I even have a positive outlook on whether or not a good Alpha Fight book will ever come out with the way Marvel teases us. But I certainly have to have hope.

Yeah, and that's my thang!

Varo, you're allowed to like whoever you want.

We'll hate you for life for it, but you're allowed. :?

I have to be a bad boy too and say that, of all the Omegans, I honestly wouldn't complain if Julia stuck around Canada. I wouldn't also whine too loudly if Beta Ray Bill was a permanent member of the team. There is also one other Non-Alpha character that I'd like to see either join the team permanently or at least as a recurring semi-permanent character (much like Nemesis was in vol. 1): Woodgod. Last we saw him (feel free to correct me if there has been another sighting of him) he was in a dunktank in Department H's bowels, having God knows what done to him...

I really love the Omega Flight characters, so if all of them get into the plan Marvel has for AF, I will be very happy. Nothing wrong with a few Americans and an alien helping out Canada, is there?

In an equal real world, I wouldnt mind Americans fighting for Canada, but in comic land, teams and books are made with purpose. XMen recruit mutants (outside of Marko), Thunderbolts recruit ex villains and Alpha Flight have Canadians. Same as Big hero 6 having Japanese nationals. Keep the status quo

The Flight's should be Canadians defending Canada...Period. It's a Canadian team and I don't mind that a couple of Americans (and/or aliens) are on it to help out, but I think the States Sending U.S.Agent was just insulting to Canada...He's wearing a representation of the Flag of the U.S....The Canadian govt. should have said "No flippin way is going to be on our team...Send somebody else."

Can you imagine the press coverage for this sort of thing? "Canadians need U.S.Agent to help in super-power shortage"...I'm not Canadian, but that would be just embarrassing to me, if I was. Not only that...Imagine if word got out that the man wearing the Guardian suit is the very man who killed Canada's heroes?

An American mail man defending my country? I would laugh myself to death if I was Canadian.

Well I find it somewhat comical as well that Canada has basically been completly ignored in Secret Invasion. Even Israel showed it was under attack from the Skrulls.

Really?! I didn't even notice that. I guess all of Omega Flight are Skrulls? Perhaps Canada was the first step to world domination.

Omega Flight or even Canada hasn't even been talked about

Alpha Flight:
a non-team built around the core of:
Heather
Aurora
Puck
Northstar
Sasquatch
Shaman
Snowbird

Other characters can come and go as part of the non-team setting, and I too would like to see Julia stick around.

And I'm waiting for the Skrull reveal from the deaths in the snow. I think the originals were killed along with the real MML and Puck2
