View Full Version : Would You Still Buy An Alpha Flight Book If It Was $3.99

A lot of folks over at Newsarama are upset with Marvel's new $3.99 pricing on (some) of it's books. Should an AF title come out at that price, will you buy it? Can you afford it?

More people will just down load comics from Bittorrent. Comics for $.99 on Itunes would be a good price point.

3.99.......4.99.......................5.99. nothing would stop me from buying a monthly ALPHA FLIGHT title.

I would to but lets not say it to loudly now. For all we know this is exactly what Marvel has been waiting for. I can see the add now. "Thats right Alpha fans you can have this amazing book for 2 monthly payments of only 19.99"

I'd buy it. simply because i feel i owe it to AF.

But 3.99 is crappy.

Only if it had the original team (or almost all of them), no Americans and was well-done (with a good creative team). If it's another stand-in team, then no...It's not worth it.

Make it 400% for me! :D I hope the next writers have learned from the mistakes of the previous relaunches.

That would be nice, Birdy.

$3.99 is still a bargain for many of the books going today if you ask me. The only thing that I ask then is less ads.

There should be no ads for that price.

Stop with the cardstock covers and glossy paper and it won't HAVE to go to 3.99. But if it does, give us some more content above the 22pg story. Content relative to the series, not just preview pages of other comics.

And I agree with Dana. At this point it's most of the original team, or nothing. Anything less would be pointless.

I haven't had money to buy any comics since October. Even if MARVEL does publish another Alpha Flight comic, I don't know if I would be able to buy it, at this time.

No adds and additional content would be an incentive to eke out $3.99 (plus tax).

Can I afford 3.99 again? No.

For Alpha Flight, would I?

Yes.

And probably buy 2 copies of each issue for awhile like I did with THOR.

Axshally, from what we've heard, I suspect it's the editors (or the PtB at Marvel) who need to learn that. And if they had, we'd have had some very different post-1 series.

I have to be honest here, I wouldn't pay 3.99 for an AF comic. I wouldn't pay 1.99 for an AF comic right now. Becuase the only thing I will get is 22 pages of whoever JQ decided to have write the title make them look more and more like a laughing stock. It seems that that is the only way JQ wants to keep them.

Now, sure, JQ gave us Omega Flight, but all we got was an amazing mini-series (that was supposed to be ongoing) which was quickly swept under the rug even though it was selling more than several other titles at the time.

What I will pay $3.99 for is an AF comic AFTER JQ leaves (or whatever price it would be) where the characters are treated with the respect they deserve, and are treated not as the joke of the Marvel U, but as equals to the Avengers or the Fantastic Four.

As far as members, I think that I would have to agree with many people, that it would have to be the originals (with possibly Arachne because I really liked her as a member).

JQ has made me swear off Marvel Comics, which is something I never once thought I would ever say. And I will not plunk one more red cent into that company until that man, and his cronies, is gone.
