Here's a preview of the story that features Diamond Lil and Jeffries, looks like Jeffries is still remorseful about the Neverland Camp incident

Wow what a huge turnout for her funeral..Yesh!......still nice to see Northstar, Wolverine and Jeffries together for the first time. That was a nice touch.

Agreed.

How sad is it that we have to wait until her death to see what looks like a good story acknowledging what went on between Lil and Jeffries after the Neverland storyline? At least they even bothered to flesh it out a little. I imagine Yost wrote it to make her death a little more than a Star Trek red-shirt event...

Here's the text. I'm glad Greg McElhatton, the author, wrote something as critical as this, because it's deserved.

I'm not sure what it says that "Boxes" by Chris Yost and Karl Moline is the strongest story here, and it's actually serving as a prologue/epilogue to Yost having recently (and somewhat randomly) killed off Diamond Lil in an issue of "X-Force." The death in that story was not only pointless but almost a background moment, the need for a death to occur to try and make the risen dead look tough. "Boxes" actually gives the character something to do other than die, serving as a character piece for her and Madison Jeffries. It's frustrating because it shows the potential the character had to be a supporting cast member in "X-Men" titles, making this story almost like an apology after the fact. The two characters getting together was a long running story in "Alpha Flight" over the years, and watching it tossed away for a shock value moment was annoying. "Boxes" is good and sports some sharp art from Moline (I love the way he draws both characters), but it's also a reminder of a seemingly random character death simply for the sake of upping the body count.

Loved it. Everything I love about one of my favourite couples in comicdom, all in eight pages. As some sort of justification for killing her off, yeah, not gonna cut it, but just looking at as a Madison/Lil story (the first one in almost 20 years, I might add), it was great.

I'm going to have to get this one. The two pages in the preview have me hooked.

This really was a good issue, and the fact they even mentioned Marrina was nice but bittersweet

K-M: Yeah, I also loved the Marrina mention. That was my highlight of the story, though it was a good story.

Can someone describe the situation more closely or post an image of the scene? Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to get to see this any time soon.

Is this the scene of which you speak of?

Jeffries, Jean Paul, and Logan are easy to spot, and the guy in white I assume is Dr. Nemesis. So who is the guy in the long coat way in the back?

Yes - and wouldn't it figure - the best characterization and acknowledgment of Alpha relationships since the Omega Flight series and it doesn't even happen in the Uncanny comic. And 2 of the 3 Alphans involved are now dead. Ugh.

Ugh, indeed. I completely agree with that noise; ugh. 'Nuff said.

To be fair, there's no best characterization of anyone over in Uncanny right now, Alpha-related or otherwise, lol.

Man, do I love this story, it's been a week and I keep coming back to it.

There are four Alphans 'involved' -- or at least mentioned... Unless either Box or Northstar has died without telling me?

Now I REALLY want to see this. Does Northstar sat anything about the others? Any acknowledgement from him of a past with any of them?

Northstar is only shown in the one-panel at the funeral and doesn't say anything.
