View Full Version : Forum Session Time?

Sometimes I am reading a post... for a few minutes, go to reply... and when I go to hit submit.... it says I don't have permission... I refresh the forum... and I see I have been logged out.

What is the session time for being logged out? Only seems to happen here. Other forums (my own, and a couple others I visit - all phpbb - not sure what style this is?) - don't seem to have an issue. I can even go to other webpages and come back and find I am still logged on. But not the case for her. (I don't do the remember me, thing, I admit - but even still - don't do that on other forums either, and it seems to keep the cookie just fine!) Here it seems like if there's 5 minutes of inactivity it will log me out.

Ben? Phil? Somebody? Never had this problem, Tawmis, so you'll have to wait for the execs to help ya out.

It is strange... I am using Firefox and Windows 7 (not that either should matter). And this time I even did the check mark in "Remember me" and after 5 minute of inactivity I refreshed and it had logged me out. It's not a big deal by any means - especially if it's something unique to me.

Seems to be unique to my work computer. Works fine at home. Even went off the forum and roamed the web. And came back and was still logged in while at home.

So no worries. Probably something with work and how it handles proxy, cookies, and who knows what.

Firewall at work, perhaps?

hey, sorry for the delay in answer. It's got to do with you work computer's firewall from the sound of it. I too use firefox on windows 7 and no probs, and there is no session limit on the forum that should do that.

Pfft! No worries on the "delay." Hardly even a delay at all, anyway! But once I tested it from home and saw it works fine from home... knew it was something with work. Not sure why it's just this forum though. But not a big deal. I usually just copy and paste what I was writing if the session times out while from work, sign back in, do a reply and paste it at that time. Not a big deal at all.
