Dr.Roa who is on the Science Team with Jeffries.

On that note, it is most likely him. Age of X every one changes their costumes. Is this issue out yet?

Events sell? They needed something to do for two months before Wells' replacement on New Mutants showed up? I'll probably pick this up just because Chamber's a player and back in his classic look, but it'll be in trade. Maybe second-hand trade.
I generally trust Carey's writing, and at least they've kept it to just two books and not made it a massive 'mini-series with tie-in books that you must read to understand the story' event.
I really enjoyed the AofA and if this is thematic in style I'll probably enjoy it.

I'm sorry...am i wrong here? I thought it was a two or three month story, being told across five or six series. At least, that is what I remember hearing.
The whole thing is called "Age of X", and, yes, it is being told in 5 different series over four months.
So...it is a mini-event, with tie-in books. Cross-series event?
suzene
01-21-2011, 06:37 PM
The only series that are being taken over for the story are XM:L and New Mutants for the main story, which is what I think Phil is referring to. There are one-shots and satellite books associated with the event, but they're trade-padding...oh, excuse me...icing.
Flightpath07

trade-padding
Flightpath's Dictionary says; Trade-padding - the carrot, followed swiftly by the stick. and really, who likes carrots, anyways?
Le Messor
01-22-2011, 01:41 AM
Horses love 'em.
Of course, if you're a dog, the carrot's the threat and the stick's the promise.
Yeah, barring the Alpha Opening Oneshot it's just in Legacy and New Mutants for 3 months, rather than Uncanny, Legacy, New Mutants & X-Force ala Second Coming.
There's the Age of X:Universe 2 parter too but that's essentially just an anthology about the non-X characters set in the past, so isn't essential reading.

I hear ya, but my love for Chamber actually rivals my love for Northstar some days, so if he gets to do anything remotely cool or interesting, I'll probably wind up picking this up. That and Carey still has miles of goodwill with me for undoing Millar's nonsense re: Northstar.

Yeah, love for 'my' characters (Alphans, of course) is why I'm reading Uncanny these days.
Actually, I'm a sucker for alternate realities, so Age Of X is vaguely interesting to me.

Did something happen in Weapon X?
Absolutely nothing. Jeffries sat around, read a newspaper, had a brain embolism, put on a white-sequined jumpsuit and a cape and got fat and sang love songs to gorgeous young women, read another newspaper, burped the pledge of allegiance, went to bed. Absolutely nothing happened; the usual.
Nothing to see here; move along.

He was brainwashed in Weapon X. We don't know all of the details but he appears to have been pretty much brain - soaked for a while. He showed up again in Uncnany X-Men #505 years later, seemingly distracted, often highly focused, occasionally brilliant - but it's a jumble of the writers and their whims at this point. We haven't seen the armor for a long time.

My off-the-cuff guess: Northstar controls more light as he is no longer sharing his power with his sister who is dead. His body may need to shed excess power.
Hmm... ComicVine lists Age of X:Universe as having Madison & Lionel Jeffries appearing (http://www.comicvine.com/age-of-x-universe-chapter-1/37-267087/)... I didn't notice them when I skimmed through #1, but being written by Mr X-Club Oneshot himself, Si Spurrier it'd make sense.

Looks like a couple of the people in the last panel, aren't in the 2nd-last panel, even though they should be. Makes me think that 2nd-last panel has the two conversationalists only in it, because they have turned and therefore screwed up the reader's view, so Box would be just off-panel. Mike Carey can usually do no wrong in my book (I am currently brain deep in the Felix Castor novels and loving every second of it), but the rave bracelets just look sillier and sillier every time I see them.
To be fair, if he's not being used in the actual story at all it could well be that it wasn't Carey's doing, merely whichever artist redesigned him.

Does your copy of X-Men Legacy #247 have a solicit on the last page of the book for New Mutants #24 with the cover for X-Men Legacy #247 or New Mutants #24? Both my copy and the variant copy I have both show the cover for X-Men Legacy #247 in the place where it should have the cover for New Mutants #24. Seems like a misprint to me.

Hm... I hope his appearance is more than just that bit?
Northstar appears in a few more panels in regular continuity/timeline/universe/whatever as it all aligns at the end, in his standard costume.
One panel he looks to be talking to Wolverine.
No Box that I can see.
I can't see either in Age of X:Universe #2 either, but could be wrong.
All in all, a fair showing of the two in the series so far. A few lines, mention of Aurora (that fits in with her not being on Utopia) and use of the Box armour.

Is that Jeffries on the right hand side, or has Namor suddenly developed designed stubble?

I'm going to guess Namor - partially because of his proximity to the "Power" end of the table with Cyclops and Emma as opposed to the "Brainy" end with Rao and Nemesis, and partially because of the high, open collared blue shirt which we've seen Namor in before but never Jeffries.

[QUOTE=Le Messor;78839]If you look closely at the things on Northstar's wrists, you can see the knots, leading more to 'he's wearing string' for me... though the 'knots' could be the jewels that cause the light streams.
My guess is they are some sort of energy band/whip that causes damage when you brush up against them. Would be pretty cool in battle IMO.
Jeffries appears in one panel with a line in X-Men Legacy #248 "It was misery and horror from start to finish. Rip it out of me." in regards to Frost/ The Cuckoos wiping the memories of Age of X from everyone.

I've changed my mind about the mystery character being Jeffries. Here is a re-creation of the character with some minor coloring changes. Read all about it here. (http://alphaflightcollector.wordpress.com/2011/05/29/jeffries-and-maybe-jeffries-in-x-men-legacy-248/)

You've convinced me it's him.

Yeah, my thought was that if you halved the table from Frost's right shoulder to Nemesis' right shoulder then that'd be the power balance and Madison would be on the science team side.
His behing that far to the left is artistic licence as to not have him obscured by Frost and while you could have Madison moved up a bit, having Angel where he is as a standing central focal point works with the page dynamics and the symmetry.

Yeah, I wonder why that scene weren't drawn from a higher perspective. If you want to show everyone at a table, you look down on them from above the plane of the table. You don't have to look straight down on them from a point in the ceiling, but just above the table is enough to see over the characters in the foreground. If the perspective were about a foot above Emma's shoulder instead of square behind her back, he could have put Jeffries right next to Dr. Rao AND fit Namor next to Emma.

You make good points... I know that sometimes, as an artist, I just assume a straight-ahead, eye-level persepective. It's hard to get over that 'hump' of realising I need to / can change perspective.

Eh, not big news but thanks for scrolling down. Northstar appears in one panel in flashback to the scene in New Mutants #24 (http://alphaflightcollector.wordpress.com/2011/05/27/northstar-in-new-mutants-24-age-of-x-chapter-6/) where he's kneeling down and holding his head. That's all, but it's a pretty good issue so go buy it!
Ugh... $4.99 for one panel.... I still bought it though :(
I'm fed up of paying $2 for reprints I don't care about though!!! I can get the back issue for that!

I'm probably fired for saying this, but I won't pick it up.
I'm getting pretty tired of buying comics I don't enjoy for single-panel appearances.

Come on guys! Beef it up! Now that we've got a new series, you're getting soft?!??! Toughen up a little!
No more complaining! If baby rplass whined like that I'd send her to her room! Well, her room is full of kids comic books so maybe that's not such a good example but hey, quit yer whining!!!
It's the reprint I'm complaining about.
There should be a standard $2.99 version and then a $4.99 version + reprint. Or a $3.99 + voucher for digital reprint download or something.
But then again beer should be free and there should be world peace.

I tend to just buy the stories Alpha feature prominently in. Northstar and Jeffires being affiliated to the X-Men presents to many appearences to get every one. Periodically I pick up the British Marvel 'Essential X-Men' which reprints three X Title issues for £2.95. Get a few minor appearences in that.
Is that Box's foot in one of the panel's too?

OMG you are my twin! I was thinking the same thing, but you just can't tell who some of the feet belong to. In any case, it's the tiniest foot appearance ever.

Come on guys! Beef it up!
... but I'm vegetarian!
Okay, with this whole new 'reset the numbering' announcement about Uncanny, I think I'll just drop the title altogether (again).
It's just one cynical, annoying as, cheap marketing ploy too many.
I haven't been enjoying it, and buying issue after issue because there's two panels with an ex-Alphan in them just isn't worth my time / money / timey.
(Am I sent to my bedroom now? Because my comics are in a different room... :( )

Ditto. Except for the Essential X-men part. I wait for the cameo stuff to get to the bargain bin. And they all do, eventually. (cue ominous laughter)

Also, Amazon's shipping policy is the work of the devil. I always wind up spending more than I meant to just to hit the free shipping mark.

The mystery of the Northstar contrails explained: I asked Clay Mann directly about this today at NYCC. He explained that when he designed the costumes for Age of X, he took elements from other things - and for Northstar it was Tron. The red streaks are the persistent trails left behind just like the light cycles. Mystery solved!
Then he mentioned there was a gaggle of 10 cosplayers all in Age Of X costumes who had stopped by his booth and there was an Age of X Northstar with neon lights attached to his wrists. I didn't see it but boy I bet that looked great!
EDIT: I found the gaggle. Here's a blog post showing all the players (http://sosuperduper.com/blog/2014/10/12/x-cosplay-by-a-gaggle-of-awesome-gays/) and here's Age of X Northstar:

and you can see the wrist contrails better here:

Awesome! I didn't see the guy personally but wow that's pretty neato.
