View Full Version : If You Could Build The A Team

A project for those interested.
If you were in charge of building a super-team to be used within the Alpha Flight maxie-series, who would be on it? This team would be a government-inititated Alpha Flight, a team to serve the government as heroes as well as to hunt down and combat the original Alpha Flight.
Your only rules, are that the characters (or at least most of them) should have some connection to Alpha Flight, and it should be believeable that these charcaters would be hired as new heroes by the Canadian government. Plus, membership would be limited to between 6 and 8 people.
Oh yeah...and they cannot be members of the current 8-person Alpha Flight team.
Enjoy!

I'll go first!
1. Guardian (Colin Ashworth Hume, wearing an Epsilon-Black battle suit painted the same colours as Guardian's suit). He would be the team leader.
2. Killpile (just made her up - she would be a surviving member of the Breed experiments, and therefore feral and vicious, kin to Wild Child).
3. Bones (from Pink Pearl's Circus).
4. Nemesis
5. Earthmover
6. Raptore (Omega Flight villain)
7. Daisy (Omega Flight villain)
8. Depth Charge (one of Puck's old pre-Alpha pals)
Wha do you think of that team? Would they give OUR Alpha Flight a run for their money?

1. Guardian - Pointer back in the suit again. The team deserves another chance to kick his ass, and then they can help redeem him.
2. Talisman - Liz Twoyoungmen, ostensibly hunting down Alpha flight due to feelings of resentment toward her estranged father, but actually a total mole for the good guys
3. Double Trouble - remember, there are no bad characters, just horrible, horrible 90's costume design.
4. Daisy - every team needs a brick
5. Scramble - you can't keep a good source of body-horror down.
6. Flex - because all the rest of Wolverine's kids are in books these days, so why not this one too?
7. Murmur - I never really liked her much anyway...

Double Trouble (http://images.wikia.com/marveldatabase/images/1/15/Double_Trouble_01.png) - I like it! (looks like a Liefeld design)
I really wanted to put Thor Girl on my team, but couldn't think of a way to force her onto it (Beta Ray Bill already proved that forcing mythical Asgardian types onto a Flight team just don't work). Komodo would have been cool, too.

I was thinking this look from the Northstar series. (http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_lg3y64HScH1qe27noo1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId =0RYTHV9YYQ4W5Q3HQMG2&Expires=1300521570&Signature=JpgS2BV%2FmQxYKahOqA5r%2BHJiNU4%3D) The one you posted isn't so bad -- at least I can see how that would stay on.

Glad to know that WEAPON P.R.I.M.E. is appreciated. They've gotta do something with "Killspree" though; that just won't do as a govt-sanctioned operative. and the design....
They should be given a chance to strut their stuff again. As the "A" Team, I like:
(1) TigerStryke
(2) Double Trouble
(3) Yeti
(4) I like Agent K, but Mr. Farnum or Mr. Gentry might have some skills, too
(5) LYNX
(6) a new CYBER
(7) EARTHMOVER
(8) The Constrictor or The Shroud
I think this group would give AF a run for its money, before joining them to fight any even bigger threat...like a formidible ZODIAC or a new SQUADRON SINISTER.

Okay, I admit it!
There was a "slight" typo in the title of this post. The word "The" should have been omitted. My bad. Should have read "If you could build a team"
NOt "The A-Team". Sigh...
You may well be on to something FP!

What? I like it both ways.

Revenge is sweet...
I always imagine it something like ice cream. Cold and sweet. mmmm...

'Cause we all know that ALPHA really is "The original 'A' Team," anyway...and predates the television series (by years).
no error IMO.

OK, I haven't read any AF comics in a lot of years. Is this what happened with Dan Smallwood, or is Yeti your creation, mos-def? I like the idea a lot!

Yeti isnt my idea. Yeti is actually a smarter Wendigo who was part of Weapon Prime and Department K. Dan Smallwood just vanished off the face of the universe but I think he would have motive to find Marrina. Becoming a Wendigo is the easy part. Controlling such a creature is what Department K did in Northstar. Put the two together and I think you have something

I don't think Weapon P.R.I.M.E.'s Yeti is really a wendigo, though...Unless they de-tailed him (but why would they do that?). Who knows?

Koz, Arachne is already back in the States, where she was blinded and given Madame Web's powers (In Spider-Man's "Great Hunt" storyline). She is now the new Madame Web. Manbot is a great idea, though...I totally forgot about him.

Cripes...I just thought about Julia and her relationship with the Shroud..They're both blind now. Marvel really didn't have to blind her, did they?

I don't think Marvel likes Shoud. They never seem to want to use him except as an occasional guest star somewhere. Why the heck didn't they choose him to lead the Thunderbolts?

I was vaguely aware of the Mdam Web thing but did not feel bound by it for the purpose of the thread.
And the blind couple thing...trust ME, it happens.

Those darkforce characters need to be written by someone with a fascination for the power. Otherwise they end up like Darkstar, casually killed and even more casyally (and poorly) resurrected. I don't remember the Shroud's LS as anything good, tho I loved most appearances he has made.

Pointer in the Guardian/Vindicator outfit to fight Guardian.
Talisman to fight Shaman
Wendigo to fight Sasquatch
Witchfire to fight Snowbird
Plodex Creature (of some kind) to fight Marinna
Box (Madison) to fight Aurora
Yukon Jack to fight Northstar
Puck II (Daughter) to fight Puck

I have trouble thinking Elizabeth would willingly fight her father. Considering that in Omega Flight she looked to practically take over the mantle of Shaman. However working with the gov't as Alpha's spy I'll accept. ;)
Puck leading a team would be interesting and he'd be damn dangerous too. I'll leave the why to Fred and Greg. Others I'd add are:
Puck II (Zuzha): Lots of good moments to be had here, she'd finally meet her real dad and fight beside him, but does Eugene want that?
Nemesis: Just because she's so bad ass with a cool costume.
The Plodex Kid (vol 3): Rapidly aged and trained. Marrina would be his target.
Box: Poor Jeffries, so easily manipulated, this time by his own gov't. Creates Box power suits manned by the military.
Madame Web (Julia Carpenter): She is reactivated by the Canadian gov't and brought aboard. Now with her seer-like powers she poses the biggest threat to Alpha Flight.
Omega: Pointer is promised control over the voices in his head and an endless supply of "juice" if he cooperates.
Wendigo: A new person has obtained the curse but with Talisman's help is able to stave off the feral madness.
Alternative: Having no super-powered individuals the Canadian gov't trusts to bring Alpha in they turn to their allies across the sea and ask for:
