Just introduced my 12 year old daughter to the local comic book shop. She bought two used issues of Uncanny X-Men (she is a HUGE Nightcrawler fan already!), and a new issue of Deadpool.

I have also started her reading my issues of Avengers Academy, which she has really enjoyed so far.

I'm thinking it is a little early in her comics love (and possibly in her life) to introduce her to Alpha Flight - i see the Flight as more of an adult-ish comic, not really appealing to her. She is more in the "I'm in love with Kurt/Nightcrawler, Deadpool is awesome, and who are these kids close to my age that Ant-Man is teaching and wow are they ever evil and messed up!" sort of mode right now. Hopefully, Flight love will come later for her.

I feel so proud... :-D \\:D/ :-D

Excellent!

The Flight was one of the first comics I ever read - and that as a kid - which started my love for the medium. But I'm talking v1, and you might mean v2? (I know you're a fan.)

Have you told her yet that Nightcrawler is spending the year dead for tax purposes?

"Okay, do you know how lame this is? Bored teenage boys trying to raise a demon. Sorry it was a no-show. You know, I bet it's because you forgot the boom box blaring. Some heavy metal thing like Blue Clam Cult? I think that's the key to the raising of lame demons."

Excellent FP, start em young. Mik, without digging out the book, what was the name of the band who spent the year dead for tax purposes?

Disaster Area - but it was just lead singer Hotblack Desiato who was dead.

She knows Nightcrawler is currently deceased; that is why she bought back-issues of Uncanny, she picked two issues where she saw him on the cover!

Good job. Getting the next generation of fans into the fold is our duty! So, fellow comic fans, if you have kids already get them into the comic shops!!! If you don't have kids then get started on that, and if you are kind of thinking a few might be yours but you aren't sure, get them into the comic shops anyway!
