Smiley Guy Studios is to animate a five-episode online series voiced by Kris Holden-Ried and Paul Amos.TORONTO – As Captain Canuck continues his journey from the comic book to the big screen, the iconic masked crusader will also feature in a new animated web series.

Comic book writer Richard Comely, who launched the Captain Canuck franchise in 1975 with fellow artist George Freeman, has tapped Captain Canuck INC and animation partner Smiley Guy Studios to produce the five episode online series.
The Captain Canuck superhero will be voiced by Kris Holden-Reid (Lost Girl), and his arch-nemesis, Mr. Gold, will be voiced by Paul Amos (Warehouse 13).

Toronto comic book artist Kalman Andrasofsky helped reimagine the classic Canadian hero for the digital age, as did Dean Henry and Paul Gardner as creative directors.
Sam Chou is animation director on the Smiley Guy Studios production for Fadi Hakim and Alex Sengupta’s Captain Canuck INC.
The web series production follows Mind’s Eye Entertainment stick-handling a live action feature film adaptation based on the Captain Canuck comic book series.
Arne Olsen, whose screen credits include Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and Cop and a Half, is penning the movie script.
No word on which Canadian actor will don head-to-toe in figure-hugging rubber to play the Captain Canuck character.

So, the most frustrating thing about the Captain Canuck kickstarter campaign to get the web series up and running, is the lack of accountability. My donation meant i was to be mailed several items. They never arrived.

When you sign into the kickstarter campaign, I find there are lots of people with the same complaints, while some people recieved their items but they were mangled or broken.

When you try to directly contact the people behind this, you get no reply.

Although the webseries has been quite enjoyable, and although I enjoy seeing my name in the credits as a campaign contributor...after this experience, I will NEVER fund any projects in this way again. There is absolutely no way to hold anybody accountable; its not right.

I've backed 4 Kickstarter's now, 2 that have finished and 2 that haven't.

Of the 2 that have my 'rewards' were massively delayed but at least I got them in the end.
