I like the Rat Queens title, myself. I can see why it would appeal to anybody based on its story and art, male or female. That's why its on my pull-list.

While I think comics could appeal more to female readers, the article seemed to be based on stereotypes - 'girls want romance and stories about babies' more than 'good stories'. The part of it that I had to agree with, though, was the realistic figures on women in the comics - the unrealistic ones have to be off-putting. I don't particularly like them, and I'm a guy. (We don't all like the same things.)
I'm a little worried that the writer thinks R-rated sex-talk is what sells to girls. Personally, I steer clear of that in any medium, and I hope that no company decides it's a way to sell comi... anything.

Mik, I agree. I love women, and women's figures (gotta marry me an accountant, lol!), but I get tired of seeing Hollywood's version of what a woman should look like (which is a fantasy that no actual living woman can achieve, this side of photoshop). Heck, i still think that women Marilyn Monroe's size are sexy. I wish i could boycott everything associated with these images, but...how do you boycott literally everything?

There is a way, but you'd have to give up geekdom forever.

I usually end up with women who are less-than-magically-perfect in their physical proportions. Makes sense, as there are a lot more of them out there.
