• Uncanny X-Force #1 Cover & Character Designs at Comics Alliance

Comics Alliance have an exclusive look at the first cover to January's Uncanny X-Force (2013) #1 by Olivier Coipel as well as a look at the character designs by Kris Anka with his thought process and comments from series writer Sam Humphries .

KA: Puck was an incredibly hard one to nail down because we were looking for both equal elements of superhero and a rugid, tough outdoorsman. He had to look like if he took off his jacket, he could fit in both the wilderness and at a bar, but if once composed, he lined right up with the rest of the team visually. Because his last costume was designed such a long time ago, a lot of care had to be taken in trying to update him into the modern age, while also retaining the "puck"-ness of him. I also tried to give him a Walter White goatee, but Nick was having none of that haha.

SH: Puck is a bad ass. Dude was a bouncer in the middle of nowhere, Canada. He might be short but he's rarely in a situation where he can't kick some ass. Puck is not a clown. No more skull caps, furry thighs, no more giant letter "P" on his chest!

Well if it is his ex-jacket maybe he is just sentimental and misses her.

Maybe it's now a pair of pants?

I find any outfit that doesn't have a big, orange "P" on the front of it a step up for Puck. I agree that as long as he's written well (i.e.: not a punching bag, not the one constantly screwing up/needing saving) I'm good with pretty much any kind of redesign for Judd.

      He seems to be an...interesting?...fellow.

Unfortunately for me, the only character associated with this book that i give one fig about is Eugene Judd. That leaves me 'unsure' if i will bother to pick this up; why read about so many characters that I don't care about? That is the 'problem', if you will, with team books; and with so very many comics out there to choose from, that makes it tougher to make that sort of a choice.

Completely disagree with your opinion on this one. The big orange P is VITAL to Puck's costume, it is a very part of what makes him unique.

I love Sam's enthusiasm. Hopefully it'll transfer over well.

And I'm with Legerd on the P issue - I don't think anyone should be defined by a costume rather than their personality. That just makes a pretty weak, poorly-written character IMO.

One of those Puck images and the solicited cover was published on 10/31/12 in the Marvel Preview Magazine.

Also, some news: the cover is now solicited as a poster!!!! It's supposed to be out 11/14/12 according to the magazine. It had been previously solicited as "Marvel Now December Poster Tba"

Also it's now showing on TFAW: http://www.tfaw.com/Posters/Profile/...oster___413144

      Love,

Great! Everything matches up then. The Jan solicits didn't show an image so I wasn't 100% which image that solicit was referring to. But now we know. Uh, again.
