Sort of a strange thing to focus on but that railing outside of the lawyer's office building - yeah that's exactly what the pedestrian barriers look like on our sidewalks. Same with the railing near the park benches. I'm loving the hyper-realism of these cityscape images of NYC and my eye is drawn to these elements. Though minor, they seem to pop out at me as familiar parts of a larger whole. Nice railings! Yeah.

      That art...*shudder*

I'd have to be a REAL fan to buy anything that looked like that!

Just my own opinion, of course.

They say the devil's in the details. I love it when they get things like this right...
Like on the Simpsons, when they visit Australia and show Parliament House. I ride past that building every day!

I'm not sure what's so strangely compelling about seeing a cartoon version of your hometown! Here's what those fences look like in real life. http://s3.amazonaws.com/sfb111/story...E_03302011.jpg

I think it's just seeing something so familiar, especially as seen by millions of others.
Which is something I'm not that used to. (There was a JLI annual partly set in my hometown once, but the Did Not Do The Research.)

Um...why is there a naked woman on the cover of this comic?

      Because they think it'll sell?

Well, I'm still not buying it.

I guess the question should be more like, why does Marvel degrade itself by using such an image on the cover of a medium that is mainly seen (debatable, I know) as for children? Yes, yes, I know, it isn't just Marvel...but the excuse, "everybody else is doing it" doesn't make it right.

And wasn't yesterday International Women's Day?

Yet it's fine to show topless Puck, Gambit or Wolverine?
There are no genitals exposed or any sleazy pose so IMO it's no worse than seeing a woman in a swimsuit.
The book is marked as Teen+ and let's face it, current issues have Northstar and Kyle talking about having sex all the time so it's definitely not a children's book.

Chances are that they'll tweak the image before final publication or part of it will be obscured by the trade-dress anyway.

And completely aside I believe that the whole concept of International Women's Day belittles women generally.

All opinions, given in a calm and reasonable matter for debate.

Note the use of the word 'they think'.

I don't think it is anymore. WAS, but not is. 'sides, there aren't a lot of comics these days I'd even let children read.

      Well, nobody's tantalised by men.

She'll be wearing a trade dress? Is that anything like a cowgirl dress?

But what does it do for International Women specifically?

      I hope that works, Phil!
