• Amazing X-Men #8 Sales Figures

ICV2 have published the estimated sales figures for the month of June 2014, for Comic sales via Diamond to the North American Direct Market, which includes the placement of Amazing X-Men #8, the first part of World War Wendigo guest-starring Alpha Flight.

46 31.99 AMAZING X-MEN #8 $3.99 MAR 41,613

Looking at the run of the title beforehand:

AMAZING X-MEN #7 42,512
AMAZING X-MEN #6 45,095
AMAZING X-MEN #5 46,242
AMAZING X-MEN #4 48,161
AMAZING X-MEN #3 51,431

The title has been dropping a few thousand sales each month and unfortunately the new creative team and guest appearance by Alpha Flight doesn't seem to have added any extra sales to the title, which doesn't help the prospect of an Alpha Flight book in the near future.

In the same token, they can't say that Alpha Flight cause the decline since it's been steadily dropping with each issue. Aren't Number 1s always selling better than their Number 9s (with maybe Walking Dead type of buzz exceptions)?

Agreed, but it's no help.
The reason that AF got their first series was because their guest spots in UXM were so received.

It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the issues in the arc do.
#9's variant cover will slightly skew the count though.

I was thinking the same thing.

Some things may go in Alpha's favour, however. For instance, if the issue AFTER their appearances end continues to fall in numbers, then people could assume (wrongly, but they could!) that Alpha's appearance helped to keep the decline from being worse, for their issues.

Technically, I'm not helping, since I was buying the title before Alpha showed up.

(No, I won't be buying multiple copies for the appearance.)

Yeah, but like FP says at least you haven't dropped it.
