• Captain Marvel #2 Sales Figures

ICV2 have published the estimated sales figures for the month of February 2016 for physical comic sales via Diamond to the North American Direct Market, which includes the placement of #2 of Captain Marvel, which features members of Alpha Flight in space. Please note that these don't take into account direct postal subscription copies or digital sales.

    64 CAPTAIN MARVEL #2 $3.99 28,962

    For comparison:

    22 Captain Marvel (2016) #1 $3.99 52,972
    83 Captain Marvel And Carol Corps #2 $3.99 28,741
    79 Captain Marvel (2014) #2 $3.99 28,008
    84 Captain Marvel (2012) #2 $2.99 28,434
    72 Alpha Flight #2 $2.99 26,862

The title sold 28,962 copies showing the standard drop from a first issue and stays roughly in line with previous second issues of the series, meaning the series is meeting expectations.
There were 2 variants for the issue, which no doubt helped sales, and the next three issues continue this.
The arc afterwards is likely to be a Civil War II tie-in which could well increase sales.

So, #6 is a crossover issue?
I'll have to keep that in mind.

... wait, is that the one where we're half-expecting an Alphan to die?

It hasn't been solicited yet so it's a presumption at this point.
We should know in a week or so.

If you mean Shaman, that's Doctor Strange #6.

Weren't we expecting that an Alphan's death will spark off Civil War II, though?

      Heh, not in seriousness.
I think that was just mentioned as a Bendis-ism.

It'll be someone much bigger than an Alphan, and most likely someone that exists in the MCU film universe.
Hence my guess that it's War Machine, who Carol is currently dating...

How many variant covers does Captain Marvel (2016) have? The insides are the same, just the covers are different, right?
