BIO: I started collecting AF with #28. Went back and got #1-27. Stopped around #70, then got random issues after that. Have all Volumne 2. Stopped collecting all together. (Did not have time, money, or space to continue and got tired of the continuous X-Book X-overs.) Last year during Vancouver Olympics, ordered the remaining issues of Volume. 1. Refuse to get Volume 3 or Omega Flight. Have a few Wolverine and other tie-ins. Chaos War was the first new comic I have bought in almost 10 years.
Favorites members include: Marrina, Puck, Heather, Northstar, Aurora, Shaman, and Talisman. Not so keen on Persuasion and many of the newer ones. Feel that Marrina has gotten a raw deal and deserves much better than she has been written and I do not accept what the Avengers writer did to her, by turning her into a Leviathan. (Ask me about my theory to get a round that storyline.)
Welcome to the forums! You must love music... not just because of your handle... but in your interests... you mentioned it... twice. :)
So it's an interesting thing (to me) - that you dig some of the newer folks like Persuasion and such... as I was not a fan of them. Other than Witchfire, but I believe that was because of her tie to Belasco, who I fell in love with after Uncanny X-Men #160 (thought that was such a great story!) So... I'd like to hear what you liked about the newer characters... I do WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with you about Marrina and her fate... but then... we see that there's already an easy way around it... in Avengers Volume 3 (Kurt Busiek's relaunch quite a few years ago) when Master appears - if memory serves me right she's seen in one of the tubes...
Oh, right. See... never read posts and work (doing IT support) at the same time... I am like Windows 3.x and don't multi-task well. LOL
Welcome, musicgeek!
What... kind of music? And movies, cats, and natures?
Your memory serves you well, but you must bury it deep. It can be turned against you.

Oz: I don't know. I think we're kinda getting a rhythm down.
Xander: We're losing half the vamps.
Oz: Yeah, but... rhythmically.
Hey folks, with Volume 4 on the horizon we've had a few new members so feel free to introduce yourselves here.
For all the reg's how's about we use this thread to get to know each other a bit more? Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

BIO: Absolutely loved comic books growing up, and after subscribing to Marvel's digital service earlier this year, I read the first 8 issues of Alpha Flight for the first time. I ended up enjoying the next few volumes of it, but I really wanted to read the original run. This week, I found a graphic novel of the first eight, and picked it up. Now, I'm reading all the original 130, and am currently almost to 50. Loving this title, and am super excited to be here for volume 4. I hope it isn't randomly "dark" like most of the stuff Marvel seems to do right now.
I was always a "Marvel" kid, but after discovering "Invincible" from Image, I jumped ship. I sincerely hope this Alpha book will allow me to get back into Marvel.

... but we'll try.
"No! Try not! Do, or do not. There is no try."
Wait, isn't that what 'try' is?

INTERESTS: Comics, Cool Television Shows, Music in Languages I Don't Understand (Particularly Japanese or Korean), Rainy Days, Girls.
BIO: One of the first, if not the very first, comics I ever bought was Alpha Flight V1 #13. I was hooked for life on comics in general and AF in particular. My favorite members of the team include Heather and Box (Jeffries) and Persuasion, although I don't dislike any of them. Despite the craziness (or perhaps because of it), I would classify AF #1-86 as some of the finest comics I've ever read. Didn't much care for Volume 2 at the time, though I'll be the first to admit I need to reread and reassess to determine what I think now. Volume 3 was quirky but fun and I cried real tears of joy when the book finally addressed Flashback's fate from the Byrne era. My odd AF fan quirk - I don't really like Mac all that much because I think he should have stayed dead, but I love looking at pictures of him in the suit being all heroic and stuff. Even so, it's weird seeing him lead the team into battle because that is Heather's job...
Welcome to the boards, Pex! I agree volume 2 deserves a re-reading. It's a book from a different era and I think its fascinating to go back over the old issues. There's lots of buzz now about the new series so thanks for reminding us of books from Alpha Flight's past. Have fun and join in the discussions anytime!
Welcome JR, you're just in time for all the action!
Thanks, guys! I've just posted a review of #0.1 I wrote for my local comic shop's message board. #1 may follow later today or tomorrow, but since I already wrote the one for #0.1, I went ahead and posted it in relevant thread in the Alpha News section. Hey, better late than never!

NAME: Scott Bennie
BIRTH DATE: June 24, 1960
LOCATION: Abbotsford BC, Canada
OCCUPATION: Writer, Game designer.
INTERESTS: Comics, music, film, games, politics, religion.
BIO: Long time Alpha Flight fan, having bonded with the team when I Byrne stole X-Men #120. I've been a fan of the team in all of its incarnations, through good and (alas) very bad. I remain a big fan of John's seminal run and I'm really excited the book is back and in good hands.
I'm a game designer, started out in the 80s writing for tablestop RPGs, then designed computer games in California in the 90s, before coming back to Canada and resuming my freelance career. A few years back, I wrote the 5th edition version of Champions of the North for the Champions RPG, and in the 80s I adapted some Alphans for the Gamer's Handbook of the Marvel Universe, so I know enough about adapting Canada to the medium to be really opinionated and obnoxious about it :D Hopefully I won't make too big of a mess. I've lurked on this site for years, but figured this was as good a time as any to join in and be an Alpha geek with you folks. With luck, the current team will do us proud, the run gets extended and we'll have a lot of really good issues of the book to talk about in years to come.
Welcome to the site Scott, great to have you aboard. I echo your sentiments about the current team. I think that at the moment we have a creative team that actually understand what AF is all about.
I'm the new guy, so perhaps I should introduce myself, no? My handle's Mijder, but the real name is James Hickson. I'm currently reading Alpha Flight from the beginning and will occasionally include commentaries on issues I'm read on my Twitter (@Mijder).
Otherwise, I'm currently writing scripts for a future monthly superteam webcomic, "The Adventurers" which you can also stay updated on via my Twitter, but that will also post updates on this board if there is any interest.

OCCUPATION: Superhero/Comic Book Writer trying to get Published/Blackline Comics Marketer
INTERESTS: Comics, Video Games, NFL Football, WWE, Hanging Out, RPing, Writing, and Watching TV/Movies.
BIO: I am an avid comic book reader/collector since 2005, loved comics since I was a kid because my Dad got me into them. I like DC More than Marvel but I love the whole industry so I read a lot. I read Uncanny X-Men and fell in love with the character of Northstar. I knew Guardian from the X-Men Animated series, and Puck from this old issue of Maverick that I have, that was one of my favorite comics to read as a kid. So I always have known of Alpha Flight for a while but just my love of Northstar lead me into reading the new mini of Alpha Flight for the last 3 issues and I have fell in love with the whole team. Guardian and Northstar are my favorites thus my name GuardianStar and the 8's are my calling card on different message boards for my birthday. I am a comic book writer for the past few years and trying to get my own comic published as been tough but I do work for a new publisher called Blackline Comics and do marketing for them. Anyways I will probably vent about my life because I could use help from anyone who is willing to give it. I am mainly here to meet new people and learn all I can about Alpha Flight.
Welcome Jon!
Nice to have you here GuardianStar! I know the very issue of Maverick you are talking about - it's issue #3 from Nov 1997 and is a pretty big Alpha Flight issue, featuring both Heather (in her green geothermal suit) and Puck. I remember that issue was well-edited and contained several accurate references to the events going on in the volume 2 series. Thanks for mentioning it!
Big welcome to everyone who has joined in the last few days/weeks/months! It is pretty exciting for all of us to see new blood being added to the site, as well as a thrill everytime i log on and see that there are generally around 40 visitors lurking on the site; wow!
We enjoy having you all here!
Referring to a 1997 issue of Maverick as "old"...boy, that just made me feel like Methuselah.
(Or to keep it AF related...made me feel as old as the Master of the World!)

Banshee, here, Dublin, Ireland. Member a while but just pop in and out.
Have to say, I am loving the current AF mini. There is a certain satisfaction for this 40 year old, getting to read both AF and New Mutants again, brings me back to my school days and Happy memories. Have to say both NM and AF are rocking at the moment. Days of Future Past wot!?

NAME: Darren
AGE: 47
LOCATION: Moncton, NB CANADA
INTERESTS: comics, movies, soccer, CFL football
BIO: Started off in my early years as an Avengers fan... back in the days of Thor, Vision, Cap, Yellowjacket, Beast, etc. Then one day in 1979, I saw a comic at the corner store called "X-Men", issue 120. It was called "Chaos in Canada". I opened it up and there on page 2 was a superhero wearing the Canadian flag... MY FLAG ! Read it over and over and over again until issue 121 came out the following month... and I was hooked. There in my hands were Canadian superheros, something I had never seen before. Went searching for (and found) a copy of X-men 109... and I have followed Alpha Flight and Wolverine ever since. I've even turned my two sons into comic fans (I hope they'll eventually forgive me for that). I've also stuck with Marvel through all of the $#!t they've done to my Flight. Hopefully this series will make them realize it is a team worth doing... and worth doing right.
Welcome, Banshee (slainte m'hath!), Barry, and Darren! Dive right in, the water never really warms up here in Canada! But The Flight is hot, hot, hot!
thanks flightpath. thought i did this post b4 5yrs ago but turns out i didnt. lol
