Heh. Amusing?
It's weird to me how irregular my news on this movie is. Normally I hear a flood of info, but with this one, it's nothing for months, then a little piece pops up.
Maybe it's because I don't often pay that much attention to upcoming animated movies, and the production style changes things?

"Moe: Hey Twinky, gimme a quarter.
Calvin: WHAT?! Why should I give you my money?!
Moe: It's for the "Let Calvin Live Through Recess Fund."
Calvin: Sounds like a worthy cause... His motto is "Give before it hurts."
There's been very little news on it generally, to be fair.
I think it'll take a lot of non-comic people by surprise.
My 6-year old liked the ad, my older kids walked away.
Well, I know I say the same things about comic book movies. ;)
Okay, just watched it. They had me at 'From the Creators of Frozen'.
Though I'm not a huge fan of the whole making people look incompetent at their jobs (or, 'jobs' in this case) style of comedy, I'm suddenly getting a bunch more hope for this one than I've ever had.
That's cute. :)
Well I saw AF #17 for $30 and 2 copies for $35 as a wall book at the Special Edition Comiccon this weekend in NYC. So wow, Alpha Flight collectible from v2 is taking off!
No there weren't any Alpha Flight cosplayers. I would have posted a picture! It wasn't a very big show, kind of sparse attendance, which was surprising to me. I did mean AF 17 volume 2.
Which is kinda the point of the entire thread!
Oh, yeah... I keep forgetting v2 was 20 issues.
There was a lot I liked about Volume 2, namely the characters, except Murmur. I think Murmur, was possibly the worse character (as a member of Alpha/Beta/Gamma, even Omega Flight), in Alpha Flight history, ever created - beating out quite a few of the Gamma Flight people from Volume 1 who I strongly disliked. Llan still wins worse character ever created - in Alpha Flight history. He'd be up against Maggot, Marrow and a few other horrible characters that were created in the MARVEL Universe.
My boggled mind is more about the value that those were selling for.
First appearance new team with movie. Extra dollars.
You should've seen how much Guardians of the Galaxy appearances went up when they got their new 90s series! I'd grabbed a few real cheap, then their 90s series was announced, and suddenly you couldn't find them, and if you could they cost!
(I wonder how much they go for now? Does the fact they don't even pretend to be the same team affect the price?)

If it wasn't for Volume 2 I wouldn't be here.
Other than the cartoon appearance I'd never heard of AF until Volume 2 was advertised as I didn't get into US comics until about 1995 so had it not have been for the second volume I'd never have tracked down the first.
I'm glad you did hear about them, no matter how it happened. :)
I liked Vol2, a lot. Again, i would have loved to see where the series ended up had it kept going other ten or twenty or thirty issues. It got really compressed the last few issues when it suddenly had to get wrapped up mid-plot (danm, I hates that).
So it begins... the publicity trail.
This is probably going to really start ramping up soon. I hope it's good!

Alpha Flight v2 #17 has been featured in Bleeding Cool Magazine #12 as a "Hot Book" at $150 raw (which means not slabbed as a CGC book) and it also mentions #16 also a "Hot Book" (because it previews #17). There's a little thumbnail of AFv2#17 too in the magazine. Wowzers! $150 for an Alpha Flight issue

I saw the trailer and was surprised how good this looks. The info when they announced it just sounded so.... meh.... but the 3D animation and comedic tone looks like it stands on it's own really well.
Marvel really HAS gotten good at reinterpreting books into movies lately. I like that they don't take it as seriously nor as literally as when they did the first X-men movies which I hated so. Now it really seems like every franchise has it's own spirit that brings out the best of the characters. Everything is handled on it's own terms, know what I mean?
I guess after trying to watch the official X-Men anime (pretty but it's soooooo baaaaad) I was just expecting a much more jaded and formulated approach.
I agree, Marvel have been hitting it out of the park with their Cinematic Universe. I've really been loving them.
Guardians of the Galaxy has been my movie of the year, even above How To Train Your Dragon 2.
I liked the movies, but I do know exactly what you mean there.
The one I saw was okay, but it was sooooooo brown I got tired of looking at it. :?
