Alpha Flight Questionnaire
The Following is the official forum Alpha Flight Questionnaire. This automatically gets sent to new members. I would also like for existing members to take a minute to fill this out, as it is a great way to see the interests of fellow Alpha Flight Fans.
1. How long have you been collecting Alpha Flight? Since volume 1, #1. Couldn't take anymore after # 55. Picked up the Snowbird/God-War issue, the last Mantlo issue, and the first part of the Hudnall DreamQueen story, but didn't come back to it consistently until # 96 or so. Unfortunately, damage had already been done, and wasn't being undone. Stopped again around the Wrecking Crew story-arc. Have all twenty issues of volume 2, #s 2 - 12 of volume 3, plus the 1st tpb.
2. What was your first memory of Alpha Flight? Uncanny X-Men# 109. Solid story, all the way around. If recent, what was your first reaction? n/a
3. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight character? Shaman
4. Who is you least favorite Alpha Flight character? WHITMAN KNAPP
5. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight villain? Toss-up between THE MASTER,
THE GREAT BEASTS, and PESTILENCE
6. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight villain? SCRAMBLE (by far), but The Auctioneer, The Manimator, Scourge, and Razor all tie for a close second. Hope I didn't miss any other bad characters.
7. What do you think is the best issue/story-arch from Alpha Flight? Without a doubt, AFV1#s 23 and 24.
8. What do you consider the Alpha Flight "Dream Team"? Tom DeFalco, writer-co-plotter/John Byrne, co-plotter-penciller-inking-assist/Morales, inker/whoever lettered and colored volume 3/Roger Stern, editor
Characters: Shaman, Walt/Sasquatch, Snowbird, Talisman, Judd/Puck, Aurora, Northstar, Agent K
9. If you were to be stuck on a desert island with one member of Alpha Flight, Who would it be (powers can not get you off the island)
This does take comic characters a bit too far
10. Who was/is/could be the best leader of Alpha Flight? Shaman, with Sasquatch
11. Who is your favorite Alpha Flight writer? Tough one because this is the most problematic creative element, but still will give Byrne his proper respect. ADDED 3/29/06: James Hudnall does a fantastic job bringing back the classic characters while weaving interesting stories out the ashes of the terrible Mantlo run.
12. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight writer? MANTLO
13. Who is your favorite Alpha Flight artist? Clayton Henry is now tied with Byrne
14. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight artist? Mignola, Talaoc, Ross, Lee, just about everybody else
15. If you could undo one thing in Alpha Flight history, what would it be? I would have stopped publication of the ALPHA FLIGHT series with vol. 1, # 28 and not used them in other books until someone wrote them with some respect and consistency.

Re: Alpha Flight Questionnaire
1. How long have you been collecting Alpha Flight?
X-men introduction, the first run up to 55 or so? Right after Roger Bochs death, I left, then collected part of the 2nd run, and some of the latest run.
2. What was your first memory of Alpha Flight? If recent, what was your first reaction?
Seeing this cool team fighting the X-men. I was a big Wolvie fan, but liked Cyclops as well, and Mac had a little bit of both. Kinda like FF mixed with X-men! Oh yeah, and John Byrne was what made it cool, followed everything he did.
3. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight character?
Of what's been written? Mac as Guardian. The first twelve issues made me really respect and want to be responsible like him.
Of what I would want to be written? BOX. Much potential there. Bryne had something there with Roger Bochs that I would've liked to see more of.
4. Who is you least favorite Alpha Flight character?
Any re-birth of Mac. Let him die. I miss him, but leave him dead.
5. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight villain?
The dysfunctiality of the team...they were their own worst enemy.
But for a "real" enemy: Jerry Jaxon's Omega Flight
6. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight villain?
Pink Pearl
7. What do you think is the best issue / story-arch from Alpha Flight?
The first 12 (13 really) issues. Wow.
8. What do you consider the Alpha Flight "Dream Team"?
The ORIGINAL with BOX (roger bochs version)
Guardian
Puck
Sasquatch
Aurora
Northstar
Shaman
Snowbird
Heather
9. If you were to be stuck on a desert island with one member of Alpha Flight, Who would it be (powers can not get you off the island)
Puck. I bet he could tell some stories.
10. Who was/is/could be the best leader of Alpha Flight?
Mac and Heather. Father and Mother.
11. Who is your favorite Alpha Flight writer?
Bryne
12. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight writer?
scott lobdell
13. Who is your favorite Alpha Flight artist?
Bryne
14. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight artist?
Prolly someone that worked on the arcs I never bought...
15. If you could undo one thing in Alpha Flight history, what would it be?
Bringing Mac back.

ok allready, ill finish the questionier (sorry, i forgot)
1. How long have you been collecting Alpha Flight?
collecting, hmm, this sounds bad, but i don't collect, i've been given a near compleat set, (color xeroxes of most of the olders issues), then i lost interest after vol 2 was canceled
2. What was your first memory of Alpha Flight? If recent, what was your first reaction?
seeing jim lees art work - back when i was trying to break into the comic book field, a friend of mine, Jason Johnson, and i had the same goal, so we helped eachother to: get our art skills to a professional level, gain a much more compleat and current understanding of the ins and outs of the industry, and to push ourselves and eachother to keep getting better., it was jason that introduced me to the master's work, Jim Lee, starting with alpha flight, then punisher, then x men. jason and i were hired by jim lee personally, at nearly the same time. image didn't even know that we not only knew eachother , let alone the fact we 'coincidentally' were hired in the same week.
3. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight character?
sasquach, (i cant spell), hes also my fav to draw and ink, at the time of alpha flight, i was really into doing: liquid metal shine, long hair, and what i thought was going to get me noticed by wizard, using textures to create shadows, instead of the standard hatch lines. and no one noticed, oh well
4. Who is you least favorite Alpha Flight character?
manbot, i mean he's a joke, a box wtih a head - actually the one i hated the most, mesmero, just look at him; a purple cape, orange and purple spandex jumpsuit, and most hatted of all.. the spiral on his forhead! that was hard to do!! if only i had kept that 'spiralgram' thingy from when i was a kid, you know, the thing that had different circular pieces of plastic, that would be spun around by different color pens, creating neat o looking spiral patterns.
5. Who is you favorite Alpha Flight villain?
when they engage eachother, cause those are the hardest battles to win, if they win they lose, so how to win?
6. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight villain?
mesmero, i hated doing that spiral on his forhead, and come on, purple - um, i guess i answered this in question four
7. What do you think is the best issue / story-arch from Alpha Flight? hmm, the whole puck, heather, guardian love triangle was soo lame, mainly because that same idea/storyline has been done to death a thousand times over, again and again in (probably) every comic book ever made, serriously. the best? usually whatever im into at the moment
8. What do you consider the Alpha Flight "Dream Team"? since i tend to see things from the inside - out, id say, jim lee penciling, or at least storyboarding, me inking (of course), and a three year story arc written by; burne/jones/claremont (hey, he does come up with some good ideas for new characters and how to introduce them) /and topped off with dedication and endless hard work and effort given by everyone involved!!!
9. If you were to be stuck on a desert island with one member of Alpha Flight, Who would it be (powers can not get you off the island) hmm, tough choice.. not really, Heather! after all, the version scott did, had the likeness of a certan adult film actress. when i was given the first couple of images of alpha flight to ink, scott thought it proper that i understood the 'feel' of the character... so, we took a trip to a certain strip club, where she was appearing in person, where a certain someone droped a large wad of money, and he, i mean, we had her nearly to ourselves most of the night. now that left an impression.
10. Who was/is/could be the best leader of Alpha Flight? not sure, im not all that familiar with the majority of a f storylines.
11. Who is your favorite Alpha Flight writer? not sure, usually whatever i was into at the time, but in reality, steve seagle, but for personal reasons; on the 'Allerga' mini series, scott wanted me to ink him, but the staff at wildstorm said no way, after all, at that time i hadn't even inked an entire issue by myself ('still wet behind the ears'), but steve and scott 's decision to have me be inker made the differance, other wise i'd still be doing backgrounds and the occational work for someone else who was late on a deadline
12. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight writer? most of them
13. Who is your favorite Alpha Flight artist? jim lee, still
14. Who is your least favorite Alpha Flight artist? all of them! (only because the penciler, could request that i be their inker, and none of them have, boo hoo, i think that peoples opinions were tainted by scott's deadline performance. the editors at marvel knew i was reliable and could do my work in less than standard time, but, after a f , i found myself jumping from issue to issue, title to title, and have to do 'ghosting' work, that's when i ink pages in damn near the same style as the normal inker, without getting printed credit, but it ussually paid more. that ussally happened when their was a deadline crunch, or someone 'droped the ball'
15. If you could undo one thing in Alpha Flight history, what would it be? hindsight is twenty twenty, so i would have found a way to keep scott motivated and comited, hell, since then i' ve become a decent enough penciler, so i would have spent more time developing my penciling skills at image, since i now know how to ink, i wouldn't need to be williams/garner/mcweeny/etc. ink assistant, i woud instead have been a penciling assitant to lee, portacio, and everyone else. but we can't go back in time, so i'll just have to continue being a graphic designer/web designer/ and doing the ocasionall book cover as an illustrator, in my current job at http://www.amistudios.com -where i still take pride in my work!!
