I won't get it till aroudn 5pm today when i get out of classes... UNLESS I can convince my girlfriend to go inbetween lunch and our history class
I probably won't get it until later either - I teach from 12-3, and I spend time prepping for class before then. Then I've got a meeting with a student after class that will keep me away from the comic store. Damn my students from keeping me away from my Omega Flight! Maybe I should do a class field trip to the comic store...hmmmmm...now there's an idea.
My husband and I are taking the kids on an overnight vacation; but I hope to be able to stop by the comics store first. If I can't, or if it isn't in yet, then I'll have to wait until tomorrow after we get back. Can't wait!
I might head down to the comic shop tonight after work if I'm feeling extra ambitious and want to add the extra 40 minutes of walking in the arctic (un)spring weather we're having. Ah who am I kidding, of course I'm going to go pick it up!
Same here. Right after work I'll head straight for the comic shop and pick up my copy.
It's killing me, I have to wait until Saturday!!! GAH!!
 I have to wait until Saturday too... the first time this whole year that I'll be missing the Thursday release, and it has to be this one... 52, Runaways and especially Omega I'm dying to get!
I'm going to pick it up in 30 minutes 8)
i got it and it looks awesome. i can't wait to read it tonite!!!!!!
Just read it and I was very happy, here is me going off. Can't wait for #2

Mine's in the mail, don't know when it'll show up...
On my way to go get it now. I even stopped by my local comic shop a few days ago to remind them to hold mine for me :D
My store sold out all the copies by 12:30, ha!
Double post,
reading replies at other boards and they felt it was very slow and turned off by it.
sigh...
I have to wait for mine to be mailed to me.
should be here in about 3 to 4 weeks. (no, seriously!)
sigh...
It was sold out at my local comic shop too but the guy working there said that people gobbled it up because it had 'The Initiative' banner across the top.
I just picked up Omega Flight #1 and honestly, it was great. Very well written, great characters. Can't wait to see number 2. I've signed up for pre-orders with my local comic shop and I am planning on writing to Marvel (snail mail) to let them know how much I appreciated them reviving this team.
Fantastic issue! I can see how the pace can be seen as a little slow for a mini, but it was already written before Oeming was told to make it mini.
Great characterization, great lead in to the series.
As a side note, my local shop sold out in a couple hours. He tried to order more, even did so several days ago, but was told they were backordered. I'm thinking we might see a second print.
Ben
We might see a third print, before i get to see the first! Groan...[*whine, whimper, complain*] :roll:Quote:

I didn't check to see if I am reposting this but at http://www.marvel.com/digitalcomics/
AF #1 is up
Got it and read it.Quote:

I'm not really sure what could have been taken out. I assume MAO felt he had to write it withthe assumption that some of these characters are not at all known. So the background peice on Talisman/Shaman made sense.Quote:

What? How come? Is there no comic book shop in Vernon?Quote:

Spoiler warning in title, go ahead and discuss.
Ben
It's sitting here next to me. I liked it.
Let me add that I am really really impressed with the art. It's the best I've seen Sasquatch in years, hell the 80's.
Yeah, I'm very pleased with it too.Quote:

The only slight criticism I have is that I found parts of the art unclear during the fight against the Wrecking Crew. But it didn't lack intensity, that's for sure. it wouldn't surprise me if #2 was wall-to-wall action.
Question: It appears as though what we thought was Walt's apartment is actualy CSIS HQ? Was it just a fluke that it looked so much like Walt's place?
I thought he looked very Byrne-ish in the scene where he goes to see Talisman.Quote:

Got it! Loved it!
I bought the last 2 copies at my local dealer. He said they'd be reordering, since it sold out by 5pm and he was sure folks would come looking for it.
Can't wait to see where it goes from here. Great work Oeming, Kolins, & Reber! Nice tips to the past (long and recent). I also particularly liked the panel showing a little more insight into the NA#16 battle. I still want more of that battle, but it's a start.
Loved the characterization and the somewhat anti-American slant to the dialogue. I'm not Canadian, but I'd imagine that makes it feel a lot more like home to those of you north of the border.
I think this thing will be an ongoing in short order. I just hope when it does Oeming, Kolins, and Reber are still our creative team.
I won't lie, I'd have liked to have seen the whole team by the end of the book, but I'm still hooked.
I noticed that too. Oh well, it's just a shot of windows. Maybe CSIS had the same architech. I mean, who doesn't take shots of rum at work!? 8)Quote:

Spoilers.
here's some space
For the detail-oriented among us, the "World Weekly News" on p6 shows a miniaturized version of the cover for Marvel Age #2, not the cover of AF #1. Wow. I'm impressed that the writers knew of this obscure Byrne cover and used it instead of AF #1. Nice! Oh, and for those of you who wish to read the interview contained within that issue, you can read it here.
Love,
rplass
I loved it!
Spoilers: I fear the worst for Walter! That ending plus him not being in any of the promos. I expected BRB to show up and save him at the end but no show! I expect Sassy's defeat to be the reason for Elizabeth to accept to lead the team in Walter's absence. What kind of absence though!? Who knows!
I think the CSIS headquarters thing was a mistake, that was msot deffinantly Walt's home... unless his apartment has becomd the headquarters lol
I loved the offside comment about how it is IRON MAN'S fault that canada is infested with enemies.
I loved seeing Talisman with the Sarcee nation. I also liked walter.. Sasquatch was great and yes very byrne-ish but what I love is walter himself.. he looks very much like a brilliant man who has lost everyone he loves but still fights on. Great job with Walt's emotions!!!
I don't knwo what panel peopel keep tlakign about the NA#16 battle.. I looked through again and still can't find any.
The store owner near me is a little uptight so he wasn't much for conversation about omega flight, but I only saw 4 on the shelf... either he bought few, or sold alot... Then again I'm in Oklahoma right now... not a huge canadien draw here lol.
great stuff though, i liked the hidden mention of mailman mike.. and obviously if this was a full series you'd be in suspense as to who guardian was but since they gave it away in the initiative it was a quick catch when he said "no not him, i won't have it"
Great stuff.. I dunno how well it is sellign everywhere but I can definantly see this becoming and ongoing.. and who knows, maybe this mini series of how the flight started back up will be a good way to kick start it as it is givign enough backgroudn to catch new fans.
all in all.. GREAT book
But I'm pretty sure that the initiative set was probably pulled directly from extra material that was cut out of the later issues that would have been when mailman mike joined, so I bet sas is still around.. plus it would be really stupid to have Sas survive a freaking ball of energy that killed the rest of alpha and then be taken by 4 hoodlums... doesn't make sense, and Oeming has proved he's not that stupid, I jsut think Sas will be like Heather was before she wore the suit, a kind of back up guy who runs things from the back ground...or also since the initiative stuff probably wasn't originally goign to be shown, they were probably going to keep him being alive secret until you opened the pages of OF... which would make the opening panels make alot more sense.Quote:

There was a lot for Alpha fans, though I hope it wasn't so much that it turns non-Alpha fans off. I can't wait for the second issue...and the third...and the fourth. Great job, creative team! I wasn't disappointed.
The label on Walt's apartment is a mistake. I won't elaborate any further.
Ben
I just reread it and laughed out loud at the "time travel really messed him up" line. Ha that was great. And without any spoilers given I say bring that guy back after he's fully recovered.
When Sasquatch flips while fighting the Wrecking Crew. That explosion is Alpha getting iced.Quote:
