History
Colin was a long standing member of Alpha Flight who went under the codename Windshear. When Alpha Flight disbanded in the wake of the Super Hero Registration Act, Hume retired from super-heroics. Returning to England, Colin opened an art gallery displaying "hard air" sculptures.

In the wake of House Of M, many mutants lost their powers, and Windshear was reported to be on the list of depowered mutants. The lost powers were absorbed by a being known as The Collective.

Having since retired, Colin became one of the hosts of Power Players, a television program which analyses the super hero community. Topics discussed included Red She Hulk being added to the “Federal Watchlist” for her attacks on military installations, and Windshear's time with Alpha Flight.

At an unknown time, Colin was diagnosed with leukemia; which was believed to have been caused by the radioactive elements in the original Windshear armor. Sick and dying, Colin decided he wanted to leave a legacy for the world and came out of retirement. No longer having powers, Colin developed a new suit to mimic his lost abilities and went by the new codename Chinook, the “Hero of Hogtown” & the “Knight Tempest”.

Shortly after the death of Wolverine, X-23 hurt and broken by her mentor's death, came to a Toronto nightclub. The Happy Clams opened fire on the crowd and temporarily subdued X-23; Chinook helped defeat the foes. X-23 and Chinook decided to work together and take the fight directly to the gang’s leader, Pink Pearl. The short encounter X-23 had with Colin left as lasting impression on her. No longer angry and empty, she had a positive look on life and was finally proud. Colin explained to her the reason why he came back as a hero as he wanted to leave the world something beautiful, and wore bright colors to touch people. The costume made him a symbol, not a man, and the bright colors couldn’t be stained by past regrets and mistakes. The colors were a symbol which X-23 took to heart; she returned to the X-Men with new colors in her hair as a tribute to Colin and Wolverine.

Powers/Abilities
After M-Day, Windshear lost his abilities but to compensate Colin developed a new suit made out of kevlar and housed air tanks which would mimic his mutant powers. With the Chinook suit, Colin could make hard air constructs, project instant hardening foam that can encase people, and shoot concussive air blasts. This new suit lacked the ability to fly, but he traveled through the City using tethers and ropes so he could swing to his destination.
