Default Northstar & Aurora X-Factor Fan Art

Hi! I recently got into Alpha Flight by way of the new X-Factor series that includes Northstar and Aurora. I’m now hooked!

I wanted to connect with more fans and post a fan art I made of Aurora and Northstar in their X-Factor costumes.

I also made a series of X-Factor gifs that include the twins! The rest of the gifs, as well as some process shots, can be found on my Twitter https://twitter.com/mysterymarisa

Thanks for sharing your art, Marisa!

Do you just read X-Factor, or have you been going back and finding other, earlier Alpha Flight to read?

Thanks! I went back and read the first 29 issues of the original Alpha Flight on Marvel Unlimited, and I liked it a lot so then I followed the characters to other appearances in other books. Is the rest of the original run after Byrne’s departure worth tracking down? I enjoyed the first 28 issues, but #29 was such a jarring change and quite a bit too heavy on the exposition for my tastes.

I'm glad you liked the Byrne issues.

The ones after are generally not as well thought of; and if you didn't like #29, I wouldn't go to too much trouble to find the later ones.

But others may weigh in with different opinions.

The problem post Byrne is... each writer drastically had their own ideas, and treated the characters as if they had no previous stories, or utterly mis-handled their personalities, and some writers seemed hell bent on getting rid of original characters to bring in newly created characters... then other writers tried to fix that by mixing it... then they had quite a few questionable artists... then got caught up in gimmicks... then...

Yeah. It's sort of this chaotic train wreck that just goes off the rails REALLY quick, but the fall all happens in very, very, very, very slow motion. Like you're in this train, plunging to your doom, watching everything just slowly fall apart...

    I agree with Tawmis.

One thing that pissed me off with the Mantlo run is he admitted in a later interview that he didn't even like superheroes and preferred more monster type stories like Hellboy.

If that's the case then fine go do Hellboy and don't screw with my superhero team!

There were things like X-Men / Alpha Flight v 1, by Chris Claremont and Paul Smith that were good.
Oh, and their original appearances in X-Men.

So as not to derail this thread too much.
Partially inspired by some things I'd read elsewhere, and this thread:
