I feel that this topic deserves a response. The Hud is a decent fella, but has some strange ideas. This seems to be the most bizarre of all, unless your a sci-fi buff your gonna get lost amongst the convoluted plot. I see minority audience, but regular buyers. 2000ad did it better with their strip set amongst a desolate city with crims and forgotten cops. However, good luck to the man.

Driftwood: Well, I got about a foot and a half. Now, it says, uh, "The party of the second part shall be known in this contract as the party of the second part."
Fiorello: Well, I don't know about that...
    Driftwood: Now what's the matter?
Fiorello: I no like-a the second party, either.
Driftwood: Well, you should've come to the first party. We didn't get home 'til around four in the morning... I was blind for three days!

It did seem like a lot of possibly convoluted backstory for such a project, but this was in a text interview, so it is possible that not all of this will be stated outright in the first issue, but revealed gradually over time.
    Good luck to him.

My feeling about James' writing is that you have to be willing to wait for the big picture. He seems to devolpe a lot of long term plans early that won't come into play for quite some time. This can seem distracting if you are looking fore immediate results, but in the end might be worth the wait. He kinda writes a comic more like a novel.
