    Default Quick Question 1

I've been playing the game 'Brothers In Arms' and there is a quote in it that I don't recognise. I was wondering if one of the more learned board members could throw some light on it. The quote is

I understand the hard hearts of heroes, the courage of modern times

    Any takers.

Driftwood: Well, I got about a foot and a half. Now, it says, uh, "The party of the second part shall be known in this contract as the party of the second part."
Fiorello: Well, I don't know about that...
    Driftwood: Now what's the matter?
Fiorello: I no like-a the second party, either.
Driftwood: Well, you should've come to the first party. We didn't get home 'til around four in the morning... I was blind for three days!

It is from the poem "Leaves of Grass" written by Walt Whitman in 1855 the piece later became known as "Song of Myself"...the end of the quote is also slightly different. The actual quote is"I understand the hard hearts of heroes, the courage of present times of all times" It's considered one of his greatest pieces...it was also considered quite a naughty bit of reading back in those days too. lol
Hell was full, so I came back.

I really didn't think I would get an answer to that. I googled the quote to death and got no where. Cheers Jo.
    Any ideas on the following
Beneath the wild and starry sky
Dig the grave and let me lie

Its from "Requiem" by Robert Louis Stevenson

Under the wide and starry sky
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.

    THis be the verse you grave for me;
"Here he lies where he longed to be,
Home is the sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home form the hill.

I got the whole poem from poemhunter.com

I am in awe of you people. I've been curious about that poem since I first read it 20 years back. Thanks Bloo.
