    Default Nice figure

    yay it looks really good.
    he sounds really nice, JB.
although i'd like to see one single statue with all of the orignal alpha flight
members on it (which would be really cool!!) i doubt if anyone will ever make it.
    but the statue is nice.

A new custom job by yours truly. I'm trying to figure out how to do tiny glasses now.

Hi Ryan. That's a great conversion. Out of interest, who was it originally? I take it from the square base it was a Marvel statue to begin with?
    Del

Driftwood: Well, I got about a foot and a half. Now, it says, uh, "The party of the second part shall be known in this contract as the party of the second part."
Fiorello: Well, I don't know about that...
    Driftwood: Now what's the matter?
Fiorello: I no like-a the second party, either.
Driftwood: Well, you should've come to the first party. We didn't get home 'til around four in the morning... I was blind for three days!

Del, she was originally Kitty Pryde. I put a little effort into lowering the arm, but didn't quite make it.

So you hand painted the legend on the T-Shirt? That's intricate (sp). The cut off jean effect done with paint or craft knife? I'm just trying to gauge what can be done with these statues. So far the only concept I have thought about is getting another Flash figure and painting it yellow to get a reverse Flash. Nothing on the scale you work on

I removed Lockheed, stripped the paint off with acetone, filed or sanded down as many of the mould lines that I could, removed the upper part of the gloves, added some putty for the boot tops, added more putty to fill in the space between her breasts, and added putty again around her mid-section to make it look like she's wearing a looser t-shirt. The words on the shirt were done on the computer and printed out, white letters on black background, in 4 pt font (don't remember which one at the moment) and glued on. Oh, and repainted it

Somewhere in there, I accidently broke off the arm the dragon was sitting on and glued it on again. Oops.

The cutoffs are nothing but paint. A base blue, lighter blue highlights, a dark blue wash, then additional highlights of a lighter blue again, finally white drybrushing.

This was quite a bit more work than your average repaint. The piece I'm working on now, which I'll post when I finish in the next few days, is probably a bit more complicated yet.

Changing a Flash to Reverse Flash shouldn't be too complicated as the details are nearly the same (I think). Painting in yellow will be the hardest part, it's really tough to get an even finish with that color.

A couple other re-dos of mine.

I hated the She-Hulk figure, but I love the character. I made a few changes, specifically more hair (needed anyway), mostly to cover up the gross muscles in her shoulders and upper arms. I also removed her gloves and tennis shoes and put her in the B&W FF uniform.

    Before

    After

Reed Richards. I thought the arm/horseshoe looked kind of silly. Another B&W uniform, I bent the arm across his body, and I built a little invention for him to hold.

    Before

    After

In the end, the hardest part is just finding time to sit down and work on these.

Just a hobby. I have 4 kids, so free time is at a premium. My wife is down at her parents for a couple weeks, so I have nothing but free time outside of work for the first time in years. I'm taking advantage of it! Come August, I won't get to do these too much.

Another local favorite, I'm just finishing up some details.

With the Guardian figure finally solicited in the UK (should be out in the US about 3 months after that), I figured I'd share another one of my custom works. I have one other that I can't post yet, it's part of an anonymous online competition. Once that's over, I'll share here.

And the original base figure, before a hairdo and removing all the mold lines.
