Thread: Alpha Flight Organization?

    Default Alpha Flight Organization?

I liked Alpha Flight spread across Canada (coming together during times of need) as in John Byrne's run (with no government connection).

    I agree with Dana.
Though in Byrne's run that was combined with the Mission: Imossible-style thang, which means you can have funky music in your haid as you read - and it wasn't 'no government ties', they just weren't a government team. They still had the semi-official sanction.

    Maybe I should've voted 'Other'.

I voted "other". I'd like to see them based out of Mik's house. And I would like them to BE the government (of Mik's house). But I'd only want them to assemble together every morning, when they stand in the line to use the washroom.

Also, maybe they could compete together in silly contests, to see who gets to eat cow's brains or box with a kangaroo, and every contest could involve throwing something disgusting at Michael Pointer.

I'd like to see them with the gov't, but it's more hands off, and with Beta Flight actually being a bunch of smaller, Initiative style teams in every province and territory overseen by Heather or Mac (one stays Guardian the other is in charge of training the newbies). AF can then be centralized yet the rest of Canada is still guarded and they can pick and choose Betans Mission Impossible style when needed. It would be like having our cake, eating it too and still being able to have a food fight.

Why no Australian team? Marvel has a thing against Aussies, clearly...

It's what we get for living a million miles away from anything.

Maybe if I knew aboriginals who swing bullroarers and go into DreamTime?

Looking over this list (none of which belong to Marvel, of course), I think that The Cat and Killeroo have definite potential - I'd take either on "Alpha Flight: Australia". Killeye is hilarious-looking, The Wraith seems like a cool (or, tried and true) idea, and Team X looks at least interesting. I also like how Natasha X is "very good at being overly dramatic", which I think is important for any good superhero...

Like to see the team with no connection to the goverment, and and East/ West teams.

if I could vote again, I'd vote "other" again.

Clearly, I'd like to see them organized in comic-book form, a new one coming out every month, with good artists and character-loving writers, and with the staples all properly lined up (cuz that's important, too).

I chose "other" because I like the members spread across Canada, I think they should be independent (Northstar and Walter [and Roger, when he was alive] were (are?) pretty well-off]), but I like the "official unofficial liaison" connection with the government. I hope it is somebody who has a true sense of duty to the well-being of Canada and the people of Canada, and not some back-biting bureaucrat out to exploit them. There are probably enough characters like that lurking in the background, as it is.

Once upon a time, they exploded from the pages of The X-Men. For a moment, they were "Canada's answer to The Avengers."

    They were ALPHA FLIGHT....

I went for 'The team spread across Canada, with no government connections and coming together as needed.' To my mind it's what made them different from all other teams and the first twelve issues used that concept and are probably the best of Alpha.

    Driftwood: Now what's the matter?
Fiorello: I no like-a the second party, either.
Driftwood: Well, you should've come to the first party. We didn't get home 'til around four in the morning... I was blind for three days!
