Oh, that's right, I'm female, and 'not their target demographic'

My 12-yr-old daughter started reading comics, and loves them. She fell in love with Nightcrawler from the X-Men movies. When it told her that in comics, he was dead, she said that was okay, she only would read old comics then, not any new ones.

Such a shame, that is.

Mind you, I'd prefer she stay away from any new Marvel properties anyways.

But comics DO have a female demographic. They do.

Marvel and DC have been trying for years to get more female readership, even though they go about it the wrong way (I.E. Barbie). Back in the late 70's early 80's Marvel had a bunch of "girl" comics like Spider Woman and She Hulk to kick off their female readership. Even my sister and her friends had a couple of books,but it didn't last.
