==History==
[[Image:Talisman_2.jpg|right]]Elizabeth is the daughter of [[Shaman|Dr. Michael Twoyoungmen]], known to the world as [[Shaman]]. When Elizabeth was four years old, her mother [[Twoyoungmen Kathryn|Kathryn]] was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Being one of the world's foremost surgeons, Michael promised Elizabeth that he would save her. When he failed to cure his wife, Elizabeth called him a liar, saying that she hated him. Their neighbors, the MacNeils, took Elizabeth into their home. She spent the remainder of her childhood with the MacNeils. One of their daughters, [[Vindicator II|Heather MacNeil]], was like a sister to her. Elizabeth did not speak to her father for fifteen years.

In her young adult life, Elizabeth trained as an archaeologist. At an archaeological dig, Elizabeth witnessed an ancient spirit escape. Knowing her father had become Shaman, she was forced to finally re-establish contact with him.

[[Image:Talisman_3.jpg|left]]Through the course of the following adventure, it was revealed that she was in fact the destined choice of an ancient mystical power, the [[Talismans Coronet|Talisman]]. She soon joined [[Alpha Flight]] ''(note: she was the first person besides Heather to join Alpha Flight who was not trained in Department H.).''

During a battle between [[Omega Flight]] and Alpha Flight, the robot [[Courtney Delphine|Delphine Courtney]] turned [[Shaman's Pouch|Shaman's medicine pouch]] inside out, opening a breach to the dimensional crossroads. The void beyond Shaman's pouch expanded, and Talisman entered the void in order to seal the breach. She also rescued several members of Alpha Flight that had been sucked in. Prior to entering the void, Shaman promised Elizabeth to bring her back. Just before he was to take her hand and pull her from the void, Courtney took [[Snowbird]] hostage. Shaman delayed his daughter's rescue to save Snowbird. Unfortunately, that delay was just enough to allow the void to close in on Talisman, trapping her in the void. A powerful being known as The [[Beyonder]] saved Elizabeth, however she felt that her father again made a promise to her that he did not keep, and lied about saving her life, just as he had done for her mother. Extremely angry, Talisman left Alpha Flight.

[[Image:Talisman_4.jpg|right]]When Snowbird became pregnant, Elizabeth saw her chance to exact vengeance on her father. Shaman required a holy place of great power to bind the child to the Earth as it was born. Out of spite, Talisman led her father to a place of power that contained [[Pestilence]], an ancient evil spirit. Intending to allow the spirit to humble her father while she defeated it, Elizabeth allowed it to possess the body of Snowbird's child. The power of Pestilence proved to be much greater than Elizabeth thought, and he defeated her, removing her coronet. She had assumed he was a spirit and she could control him, but in fact, he had never died. In the battle that followed, Shaman wrested control of the circlet from Pestilence, putting it on himself. This took all semblance of Shaman's humanity away from him, as he was not the one destined to wield the power. Realizing that her father sacrificed his humanity to save her, Elizabeth once more left Alpha Flight, this time to resume her archaeological studies.

While on a dig, Elizabeth stumbled onto an ancient cairn containing the body of an ancient shaman,and a mystic object. Before she could touch it, she passed out. She was contacted [[Image:Talisman_5.jpg|left]] through her dreams by Narya, who informed Elizabeth about the [[Dreamqueen]]. The [[Dreamqueen's Totem|mystical object]] would allow the Dreamqueen to control her if she touched it. Knowing that Alpha Flight was in danger, Elizabeth made a three thousand mile journey to aid them. They tracked down her father, who had since left Alpha Flight, but still controlled the power of the [[Talisman II|Talisman]]. She convinced her father that she was prepared to re-take the power of the Talisman and he removed the coronet, passing it to her. The Dreamqueen tricked [[Sasquatch I|Sasquatch]] into thinking Alpha Flight trapped him in a female body, and that the circlet would restore his true form. Just as Michael passed the circlet to Elizabeth, Sasquatch grabbed it and ran away. Narya's spirit descended and transformed Walter's body back into that of a man, breaking the Dreamqueen's control. Walter returned the circlet and as Talisman again, Elizabeth defeated the Dreamqueen.

She also fought [[Llan]] the Sorcerer, a being who wanted to destroy Earth. She and Alpha Flight beat him with some help from [[Dr. Strange]]. She went through a great trauma, when in an attempt to save the lives of several of the [[Master]]'s [[Image:Talisman_6.jpg|right]] experiments, she became a living filter for all the knowledge in Shaman's pouch. This was too much for her mind, nearly causing her to become brain-dead. After a great deal of work, she recovered and again became Talisman.

After her recovery, she felt odd. Thoughts of death clouded her mind. While wandering through a mall, the second [[Omega Flight II|Omega Flight]] attacked her. After they accosted her, she realized that something had happened to her. She contacted her father]who helped her discover that the [[Ska'r]], a monstrous race of creatures, had escaped from their prison dimension. Working with [[Beta Flight]], she battled the [[Master]] and Omega Flight and returned the Ska'r to their prison. Talisman then became a member of Beta Flight and eventually gained active membership in Alpha Flight.

After the tragic death of [[Alpha Flight]] including her father at the hands of the [[Collective]]; she took up her father?s former role as protector of the tribe and retired from the superhero business. With the majority of Alpha Flight gone, the Canadian government did not possess the assets needed to deal with the hordes of American superhumans flooding the Canadian border after the passage of the Superhuman Registration Act. [[Sasquatch I|Sasquatch]] was charged forming a new team under the code-name of [[Omega Flight III|Omega Flight]] and asked Elizabeth of joining. She turned down his offer, leaving Sasquatch to fight the [[Wrecking Crew]] alone. The fight outcome was fast and Sasquatch was taken captive by the team. Agent [[Brown Jeff|Jeff Brown]] informed her of Sasquatch disappearance and she joined the ranks against her wishes to help find her friend.

==Powers/Abilities==
The Talisman is a mortal channel through which the gods can fight. One of the strongest magical users in the Marvel universe, the Talisman is a director of forces, not a combatant. Its power is for guiding things, not destroying them. The wearer of the Talisman no longer needs to eat nor sleep. Should the bearer of the [[Talismans Coronet|Talisman]] attempt to remove it, they experience great pain. Only by transferring the Talisman to its rightful owner one can escape the pain. The Talisman ''"is the breaker of Dark Spells, the one who binds all evil."'' Even [[Snowbird]], a goddess, knelt before Talisman, uttering, ''"Hail to thee, O promised one. Thy unworthy servant bids thy welcome and awaits thy least command."'' One who is given the power of the Talisman is said to have the power of godhood, [[Dr. Strange]] mentioned the Talisman is ''"a primal force of nature"''.

As stated by her [[Shaman|father]]: ''"properly developed, hers is a power that one day will rival even that of [[Dr. Strange|Stephen Strange]], the Sorcerer Supreme, himself!".''

'''Astral Form:''' The Talisman is capable of sending an astral projection of herself, as she is already part of the spirit world. She can travel thousands of years into the past in astral form.

'''Air Spirit:''' A spirit that can give air to a person when there isn?t any. This spirit saved Madison Jeffries from drowning when Talisman summoned it to send him to the water's surface in a swirling cyclone.

'''Amber Casting:''' A powerful spell that Talisman can use to create a powerful magical amber prison around a target.

'''Binder of Spirits:''' Talisman can command the absolute obedience of the Spirits of the Land. Ancient native myths state that the Binder of Spirits is one with those he binds, meaning the Talisman is part of the spirit world. Unlike [[Shaman]], who has to implore them to help, Talisman outright commands them. The Spirits often inform her of events that happen far away. The Talisman can control skyfather beings such as the [[Northern Gods]] and the [[Great Beasts]], as they are from spirit world. She is the official during the Spirit Test, which a mystic must pass if they wish the spirits to favor them.

'''Binding Spell:''' A powerful spell that binds a spirit to an object. This spell trapped Llan in an idol for ten thousand years.

'''Channeling Magic:''' Even without the coronet, Elizabeth is capable of controlling and redirecting magical energy. When exposed to magical energy on her first adventure with her father, she observed, "The pain is almost turning me inside out! And yet..I?m not dying! I?m fighting it! Resisting It! Growing stronger." She noticed that "its power is...flowing across me, like water from a garden hose. And I feel as though I can..hold it, shape it and return it". She can also channel people?s emotions to open an inter-dimensional portal. The Dreamqueen tried to break out of the same dimension for centuries and failed.

'''Compelling Vision:''' When Talisman sends out this spell, those who she wishes to aid her have visions of their mission and knowledge on how to complete it. Such as showing an opponents' strength and weaknesses. This spell is used in conjunction with the Spirit of the Wind, which guides them to the location of their mission.

'''Compulsion:''' She has the ability to send out a magical signal compelling people to come to her. The full extent of her strength and ability to compel people was never fully stated. She compelled all of Alpha Flight to meet her at the Eye of the World.

'''Dimensional Plane:''' Talisman can sense dimensional planes, including locations that are hidden between dimensional planes, such as the [[Master]]?s base. She pinpointed the integrity of the plane and opened a pathway between dimensions to the hidden base.

'''Exorcism:''' Talisman has the power to exorcise demons from people, including powerful demons summoned by Llan.

'''Gateway of Day:''' Talisman has the power to open the Gateway of Day, unleashing the armies of the Shining Realm, e eternal enemies of the twisted realms [Gateway of Night]. These two armies are limitless, potentially causing a "devastating war that could last forever." Since Llan was preventing Talisman from opening the Gateway from the outside, Dr. Strange had to enter the Dimensions of Beauty and open the gateway from the inside. Llan set various traps to hinder both, but both opened their respectful sides.

When Elizabeth wasn?t wearing the coronet, her blasts were strong enough to destroy the Dreamqueen's Totem. She can send out multiple directional blasts from one hand to hit various targets. '''Magnetic Spirit:''' Talisman can summon a magnetic spirit and use it much like [[Magneto]] uses magnetism as his power. This spirit can lock the [[Omni-jet]]?s gyros on a desired location.

Talisman placed his pouch over her head and absorbed the spells instead. She was using her mind as a filter for mystical energies to "find the one that will cure the [[Remnant Men]]." She found the Spell of Bionatural Equilibrium to convert the Remnant Men back into humans. Absorbing all that magic including trillions of spells and artifacts nearly caused Talisman to suffer brain damage.

It contain the Void, which Shaman himself can?t look at, yet Talisman has looked right into the bag on multiple occasions. She once entered the Void when it was released on Earth.
