History
It is unknown how Lillian Crawley gained her super-human powers or joined Department H's original Gamma Flight, however, it is assumed she is a mutant. After the government disbanded Department H, she was drafted by Delphine Courtney and Jerome Jaxon into Omega Flight, and had a hand in the "death" of the original Guardian. She re-appeared again when the android Courtney released her from prison to help defeat Alpha Flight. Again, their attempt was unsuccessful and Crawley went to prison.

When Alpha Flight proved itself unwilling to blindly follow the Canadian Government's commands, a new government sanctioned team was formed, Gamma Flight. Diamond Lil was released from prison to become a member of this team, however she did not. Instead, she sought out her old boyfriend Madison Jeffries, Box IV of Alpha Flight. For some time, Diamond Lil fought alongside Alpha Flight, and eventually re-kindled her romance with Jeffries. When Department H reformed and Alpha Flight returned to official status, Diamond Lil was joined as a proper member of the team, having proved herself reformed and a trustworthy ally. In time, Crawley and Jeffries married, both retiring from active duty with Alpha Flight.

Diamond Lil served in one more mission, as a part of a strike-force formed by Shaman to defeat the Chaos Lord, Carcass. Shortly after that mission, Alpha Flight was suspended by General Clarke of Department H.

When the Clarke headed the formation of a new Alpha Flight, Madison Jeffries was drafted as a member. When the newly formed Alpha Flight was on their first mission, Jeffries was captured by the group known as The Zodiac. The other members of Alpha Flight had this event erased from their memories by Department H. Diamond Lil came to Department H looking for her missing husband, and was captured. Lil underwent a series of experiments at the hand of Dr. Horatio Huxley. She was intentionally infected with the "thetagen-24" bacteria, which was used to create a new Weapon-X. When Weapon X was defeated, and Huxley had fled, Lil made a full recovery.

Diamond Lil was one of many super-powered beings captured by the Weapon X Program and incarcerated in the "Neverland" mutant concentration camp. Madison Jeffries was also under the power of the Weapon X Program, however he was brainwashed into working for them. In this capacity Jeffries created the robotic guards for Neverland, who at one point inflicted a terrible beating on Diamond Lil.

In the wake of House Of M, very few mutants were left on Earth. They were gathered together in a guarded camp, and referred to as The 198. Diamond Lil was among those gathered. As time passed, Lil eventually moved to Utopia, along with the rest of the world?s mutant population. There she was reunited with her husband and would often come into conflict with him not forgiving him for his past deeds. Eventually they reconcile and become lovers again, but shortly after Selene's Inner Circle attacks Utopia. Lil is subsequently killed by Mortis with her death touch, leaving Madison devastated. She is later buried at sea in a glass coffin constructed by Madison following a small private funeral that consisted of Wolverine, Cyclops, Madison, Northstar and Dr.Nemesis.

Powers/Abilities
Diamond Lil's body is shielded in a bio-aura, effectively giving her "diamond hard" skin and hair. She also possesses superhuman strength, the exact limits of which have not been explored.

Durability: Diamond Lil's body generates a bio-aura of nigh-impenetrable energy that permeates her molecular structure, granting her skin diamond-like durability. Her skin deflects most physical or energy impacts, but Lil still feels the force of such blows. Lil's bio-aura also protects her from temperature extremes. Her nails and hair are similarly durable, even after being removed from her body, such as when she plucks a strand of hair to use as a garrote. Her invulnerability limits her sensory perceptions through sense of touch. She has been dropped over 150 feet, hitting the ground without suffering physical damage. She did however suffer pain from the impact, but was otherwise unscathed. With her bio-aura in place, such things as Spider-Man's webbing can't stick to her.

Fighting Skill: Very skilled hand-to-hand combatant who uses street-fighting techniques in battle. She has gone toe-to-toe with Puck from Alpha Flight for a short while.

Strength: All though several handbooks state she has athlete strength, this doesn't match up to the various strength feats Diamond Lil has performed. She has gone one-on-one and defeated with an alternate reality She Hulk, . She has killed an alternate reality Spider-Man after he threatened to rape her, a punch caved in Colossus's face in a fight that took place in an alternate reality. She once hit her husband, Madison Jeffries, while he was in his Box armor, sending him through the house, causing him to land over 30 feet away. In the Alpha Flight comics letter page, the writers stated she has superhuman strength, however, her top strength was never fully explained.
