I bet that is the last we will see of Jeffries in this book though.

Yeah, that letter page is intense!

And some guy named Mik Bennett from Canberra Australia was going on about Byrne's Alpha Flight. What an odd coincidence!

Indeed? Well, at least it wasn't a letter from a Michael.

Did I mention that i dropped this series a few months back? Not sure if it had just gone through a down-phase, but the direction it was going was suddenly so very different from where it had previously been going that i just couldn't take it. Wonder if it got back on track, or did everyone just appreciate the new direction more than i did?

Can't answer; I only started picking it up a few months back, so I don't know what direction it was going in before.

A few weeks back I read the series so far, for the first time and I quite enjoyed it.
Not sure I'm invested in the characters enough to pick it up regularly but if I ever see cheap trades I'll pick them up.

Thinking about it, I did the same thing with Avengers:The Inititative which had a similar vibe and was written by Gage (with/after Slott)

(I'm imagining a lenticular cover that changes what it looks like when you look at it at a different angle. Y'know, a gimmick. The 90s are back.)

Oh, I see...he's crawling out of the cover. Cool, I suppose.

Phil, I really like Avengers:Initiative as well, and own the whole run of that one.

As for Academy, i just think the dynamics of it changed WAY TOO MUCH when they opened it up to other students, as well as the move to the west coast. It has now become West Coast Kidddie Avengers, which wasn't the title I enjoyed reading so much before then. Just MHO, tho.

Oh that is just awful. I can't even describe how disappointing that is. Ugh.

AvX is just another contrived marketing ploy, though. Better off with Alphans no where near that. You know what they like to do to Alphans in these books.

Though I want to see Jeffries kick ass again as much as anyone. Hell, I'd be interested in him hearing about what's become of his old friend Kyle Gibney. Is he just indifferent towards all his friends and former team members now? He's so isolated from them.

I mean, did these writers ever read any Alpha Flight?

I saw the ad for AvX in Avengers: Academy #31; it looked like the colourist had missed a deadline, then over breakfast spilled orange juice on the comic instead.
    For about six different covers.

The same former team members that made no effort at all to free him from the Zodiac and Weapon X?
Weapon X where he was brainwashed and tormented and made to retreat into himself, fearing human contact completely?
The same Weapon X that Kyle Gibney was a part of?

I'd be isolated from them all.
