Walking Dead creator trashes Marvel Comics

(To be fair, the article is about Marvel AND DC ruining comics; but Kirkman's part only talks about Marvel)

I love that that article doesn't give the full quote of what he actually said.

They completely ignore the part where he says he loves them.
A fan asks if Kirkman has "bad blood" with Marvel. "I don't have bad blood with Marvel per se, aside from the fact that I think they're a poorly run company that is partially destroying the comic book industry," he answers. Kirkman says he think there are a lot of good people in the company, and they publish good material, but their upper management is "extremely short-sighted" with negative effects on the industry, and the fanbase Marvel caters to, which Kirkman counts himself among, "is not going to be around for a hundred years." "I always try to look at the long game," he says. Every time he's critical of Marvel, Kirkman says, it's because he loves them, and wishes they were doing a better job.
The media, misquoting somebody, or taking their comments at least partially out of context!?? Shocking!

Heh.
I do agree with what he says though. The long term isn't looking good for either company.
I liked how the article showed that most of the money has been made because of rising prices of the comics, not because of rising numbers. This makes me think, though...unless Marvel (and DC) is (are) screwing over their hard-working staff and pocketing the extra money from the higher prices, wouldn't the rising staff salaries be eating up all their profits?

I think it's more to do with getting the money in the bank and getting the interest gained.
Having a higher dollar price and double-shipping will help this as a company will get to hold onto more money for longer before sending payments out to creators.

Yeah, my bank's the same; money can go out straight away but a refund will take 3 working days...
This is definitely an abject lesson* in media manipulation and taking things out of context.
