    WAT?
FP, you are breaking my heart!!!
How can you say such awful things about my Goblyn??
She is the ONLY AF Mantlo creation that I adore.
Does something bad happen that I haven't read yet??

Something bad pertaining to Goblyn or something she does.
    Sorry, I should have specified.

I think the concept of Goblyn/Pathway was very good.
Not sure where in Mantlo's run her origin is so I won't mention it but it was definitely a decent, original idea.

The execution however didn't really play off. They were never utilized very well, by Mantlo or subsequent writers.

I don't have either of those.

Unfortunately not Hallelujah. I like the John Cale version of that the best - that's the one you hear in West Wing and Shrek (movie, not album) and Scrubs (I think Scrubs, but I could easily be wrong about that one).

Precisely the first Weird Al song that came to mind!

She's the best thing so far about Mantlo's run, imo. She's the ONLY character that I wish could be part of the original line up.

One Inch Rock (super fun song, imo):

What I love about their earlier stuff is Marc's ability to mix in that hippy-dippy-fantasy stuff with bee-bop fun rock and actual rock music. His voice tied it all together for me.

This is Nick Cave's "Hallelujah", but yeah, Leonard's is legend.

Wow. These guys were way ahead of their time.
I cannot believe that is from 1983!

There's an irony to you saying that about this particular song. When they originally recorded it, they hired some random woman to do backing vocals.
    Later on, she became Madonna.

(I'm not sure, but I don't believe her recording of it exists.)

    I love that.
Maybe I should link you to the Eagles's Journy Of The Sorcerer sometime. It's instrumental, though.

It's fantastic. There are only about 3 musicians whose vocals are such that they get a pass for every weird noise they sing. Marc Bolan is one of them.

Definitely my most favorite T.Rex song ever. So is "The Wizard", but for short songs, this one is my fave.

I can easily love instrumentals. They don't even have to be epic in length or difficulty with instrumentation. It just has to tell a story.

I, too, love that album. The first Nick Cave album I ever heard was "Murder Ballads". I know it's not his favorite, but that album is genius.

Back in the day, Ramones were doing an open-air concert in New York City, and some woman opened up for them doing pop songs. The record label exec (who had recently put Ramones on his label) came up to the Ramones, all excited, said what do you think of this girl, i just signed her and this is her first ever performance. They said, "Nah...I don't think she'll have a very long career, sorry." That girl was Madonna.

I mention that because we were specifically talking about vocals more than as a warning.
Here it is; it may sound VERY familiar to some listeners. Or may not:

I hadn't heard that story! I can imagine the Ramones not liking Madonna; they're such different musical styles.
(Really? Her opening for them? That's just wayyy off!)

The thing about Goblyn, for me, is she ends up looking like the way she does but her father is the true monster, jeopardizing his wife and his children because of his hatred of mutants. I'll go home and check the exact issue, but Goblyn slices through Vindicator's force-shield? C'mon! Even Wolverine's adamantium claws couldn't do that (to Mac's original super-suit). [# 54, p. 11 - Vindicator actually let Laura inside the force-field, then Goblyn switched places with Laura and attacked. ]

Vent as much as you want, without profanity and slurs, and you'll be fine.
