But between New X-Men and X-Force they do have a reputation for killing characters. As Diamond Lil will attest to.

Yeah I'm still pissed off about the Diamond Lil death. They owe us.
Alpha Flight has still had a longer run than other Marvel characters that keep coming back (Nova is the first to come to mind, Moon Night a close second) so I fail to see why a new series DONE PROPERLY AND TREATED WITH RESPECT wouldn't work. After all, how many times has Marvel restarted Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk and the Avengers in the last few years?...just sayin'.
The difference is that the titles you've mentioned at the end all sell.
AF's last 3 reboots haven't. (The last 2 especially so)
