I think I'll start considering it.
I have the first two MW books of The Defenders. I haven't read them yet, though.

You are right! I miscounted. Don't know how this happened. One is completely different from two.

    'MW'? Masterworks?
I'd be a little surprised if Defenders got the Masterworks treatment, but that's cool if they did.

I was told I did years ago. Now?

We're talking the original Defenders with Namor, Hulk, and Doctor Strange, yes?
    If so, yes:

Looking at the names on that cover, that book has a good pedigree!

I felt utterly insane doing that.

Oh, it most certainly does. Number one being Roy Thomas who could write the HELL out of Namor. He needs to do another Sub-Mariner ongoing. NO ONE writes Namor as well as Roy.

Speaking of embarrassing cars, my first car was a '78 AMC Pacer (Deluxe, I believe)
Wood paneling and all. Check it out, something like this:

    I paid $500 for it.
    I loved that car.
But it was so awfully unsafe.
    so. much. glass.
It looked like the product of a fish bowl and rental rollerskate breeding.

That car took so much abuse, and I don't even know how I am alive today.

Ah, the joys and tribulations of reading comics! Falling in love with a series for a particular reason, then wishing you could get the magic back.

    I feel your pain.

What am I saying? This is an Alpha Flight forum. We all feel that pain!
(And the New Warriors fans, and the X-Men fans, and the ex-X-Men fans, and the...)

Yeah, I think most people's first cars are like that. Mine was a little Daihatsu Charade.

I got it from my older brother as a gift for getting my driver's license.
Drove it for about 5 years until it died. Rusty, ugly, and got stuck at least a dozen times each winter (no weight in the rear end = no traction).
But it was my first... so it will always be special.

A Pinto? You're lucky it never got rear-ended.

    Boom.

That was practically everyone's comment when they first saw it. Not "nice car", "how's the mileage", "what did you pay for it".
It was always "Hey, did you know those things explode".

    Our cars could be siblings.
And my car used to get stuck all the time as well!
I bought mine from an elderly lady who basically bought it and let it just sit in her garage for forever (I bought it in '95) so all the rubber had dry-rotted. My brakes went within a few months of owning it. It sounded so bad that it was as startling as a horn everytime I stopped. My dad freaked out and made me get new brakes asap. I could stop, it just sounded like HELL.
I also had to get new tires.
I believe it started to backfire as well when I stopped. That car was a mess, but it was awesome.

In regards to my Pacer, it was "Oh, hey, those things easily roll over and are nothing but glass."

My first car was a white Corolla, had it for 20 years, loved it. Still a better car than what I drive now. Other characters in Marvel I like are Rogue and Shinobi Shaw, oddly.

Hah! Was excited to see this thread get a new reply after so long - only to see, it was still way the freak off topic on cars, and not about people's favorite heroes!

So, how about we list cars that have superhero names!

    I'll go first: Thunderbird!
