History

Known as Egghead, Elihas Starr was a criminal mastermind who attempted to hold the United States for ransom by threatening to launch a nuclear missile at New York City. Learning of Egghead's plan to launch this missile from a secret Canadian location, Department H, still in its infancy of super-human recruitment, sent The Flight to battle Egghead and his lackeys . Egghead had hired various criminals for just such a situation (Solarr, Rhino, Swordsman I, Porcupine, Power Man I, and The Eel). While able to defeat Egghead's lackeys, the Flight's lack of experience contributed to their inability to stop Egghead from starting the timer on the bomb. Only the heroic actions and ultimate sacrifice of Saint Elmo thwarted Egghead's detonation of the missile in New York City.

Throughout his criminal career, Egghead most often found himself opposed by the American super-teams Avengers and Defenders. The Avenger Hawkeye accidentally killed Egghead when a trick arrow jammed the barrel of a weapon Egghead meant to employ against the Avengers.
