History
Laura Dean and her sister Goblyn happened to be mutants, but unfourtanely for them their father, Darby; who was a leading member of a Canadian organization opposed to superhuman mutants. As their mother, Susan went through a parental screening revealing she was carrying two girls, and one was detected as a mutant with a non-human form. However, Pathway was also a mutant but the screens didn?t register her. The Deans agreed to undergo an experimental procedure, where the unborn twin would be bombarded with radiation that would kill her, while sparing the other fetus. During the procedure Laura still in her fetus sensed the danger for her sister and moved to intercept the radiation targeted at Goblyn. The Doctor realizing what was happening halted the experiment. Six months later, Laura was born, but there was no sign of what happened to the other twin. In reality Laura unconsciously activated her own mutant power to transport her sister to safety within another dimension, which she named Liveworld. She also called Earth, Deadworld as all they know is suffering here.Laura was autistic in her adolescence and became a patient of the New Life Clinic, which at the time was operated by Lionel Jeffries. Lionel forced Laura to use her powers to release her sister back onto Earth. Whenever Goblyn came to Earth, Laura took her place in Liveworld. When Laura returned to Earth, Goblyn would be once again sent back to Liveworld. Later, Bedlam made Goblyn a member of his Derangers after Lionel was killed and put his Derangers against members of Alpha Flight. The battle cost all but Goblyn and Laura their lives.
It was Purple Girl, who at the time was part of Beta Flight befriended both Laura and Goblyn and both were inducted into Beta Flight as well. By then Laura was no longer autistic. Later, while Laura was in Liveworld, she was captured by the Dreamqueen the dimension?s ruler. Alpha Flight including Goblyn traveled to Liveworld, resuced Laura and battled the Dreamqueen, who then transported herself and all of them to Earth, which she intended to conquer. Hence, now Laura and Goblyn co-ecist on Earth for the first time. During the battle, former Alpha Flight member Puck seized the Dreamqueen, who stood between a dimensional portal between Earth and Liveworld. Realizing that she herself had mutant powers to open and close interdimensional portals, closed the portal trapping Dreamqueen within her own dimension
Laura and Goblyn both served on Beta Flight for a time assisting Alpha Flight on missions. Laura, Goblyn and Purple Girl left the team to try to lead a normal life, but were summoned by Talisman in a quest to rescue Northstar in Asgard. They succeeded and were also summoned to aid in the battle against Llan. After the completion of this mission, she became a member of Beta Flight again under a re-structured Department H. She struck a close friendship with most members, especially Persuasion, Goblyn and Witchfire. In a supposed training team, she found herself in battle on a number of occasions. During this time, she fought against villians such as Firebug, the Jackal, Omega Flight, the Master and the Hardliners. Following the Joshua Lord incident and the disbanding of Department H, nothing is known of Pathway's activities, or if she is one of the mutants that still has her powers.
