History

Namor is the child of an Atlantean mother and a human father. He has super-human strength, invlunerability and the ability to fly.

Namor first became involved with Alpha Flight when he and the Invisible Woman were investigating the Arctic, trying to discover what had caused barbarian Altantaen hordes in the south. They soon stumbled upon a Plodex ship, buried deep in the ice. They met the Master and were able to help save Marrina. After the ship exploded, Marrina went with Namor in the hopes of discovering more about her people. The two fell in love and he proposed to her. Before she could agree, she received a call from Alpha Flight and went to them. There, she first confronted her mate, which regressed her intelligence and brought her animal instincts to the fore. After Puck I and Namor beat the Master, she hid from them, not wanting her love to see her.

Marrina finally came back into Namor's life when the warlord Attuma took her hostage to lure Namor out. A strike team of both the Avengers and Alpha Flight freed her, but she once again ran away from her love. He eventually confronted her, and soon after they and Alpha Flight defeated Marrina's Plodex mate, they wed. She joined him when he returned to the Avengers and was even an honorary Avenger for a time. However, their happiness was not to last. Marrina soon transformed into a leviathan after she gave birth. Namor was forced to slay her with the Black Knight's Ebony Sword.

Unknown to Namor, it is possible that Marrina still lives. Llan, the Sorcerer, told the Master of the World that she was merely sleeping a false death. And yet, Namor has met Marrina's soul, in a later encounter with the Ebony Sword. Some time later, Marrina is discovered by Norman Osborn and is experimented on to be used as an endgame plan against Namor, who had recently betrayed Norman and allied with the X-Men. Marrina through the experiment took the form a leviathan/snake-like being, driven by a hunger that can only be quelled with Atlantean blood. She was released into the ocean forcing Namor and the X-Men to teleport the remaining Atlanteans to safety and to use Namor as bait. She arrived at Utopia battling the X-Men and the Stepford Cuckoos scanned her mind revealing that there is nothing but rage, hunger and hate. Leaving Namor no choice he drags a weakened Marrina underwater, and performs a mercy kill but prior he was talking to his former wife telling her to stop fighting and may have gotten trough. Later on, Namor in a gesture to show he will not play games with Norman threw Marrina?s head through the window of Norman?s officer warning him if he was capable of doing this to his wife, just wait and see what he does to him.
